Popular sports during WWll are baseball, football, and boxing. Cheerleading was for only boys until 1930 and that was when women started to become cheerleaders because the men had to go fight at war. These sports helped people through the hard times that were going on all around the world. It helped these people because it distracted them from the bad that was happening around the world. Both girls and boys were allowed to play sports during this time period instead of just boys. As to the war started to take shape many penalties started to take place because people took out their anger on the playing field. As tension grew in the war it carried on to the sports industry too. Players would shove, hit, and kick other players. Many materials that they used in sports were taken away from the sports industry to use during the war such as wood and rubber. President Franklin D Roosevelt made the green light letter which stated that baseball must keep playing since there were so many fans and players. Basketball was also unaffected by the war since most players were too tall to be eligible for war. Player Ted WIlliams played baseball. He was a 21 year old from San Diego and went to the big leagues. He joined the Boston Red Socks. He had the fifth highest batting average ever. Ted williams became a navy pilot during the war. People loved watching baseball. It distracted them and made a fun environment for the family. With the outbreak of world war 2 promoting a dull and isolating mood across the world, it seemed impossible to be in time for the 1940 olympic games in Tokyo. The olympics games in 1944, which were scheduled in london, but one Polish Prisoner of War camp was determined to keep the tradition alive. The Woldenberg Olympics were made up of war captives who wanted to find friendships and fellowship. Around 369 of the 7000 prisoners participated. Winners received medals made of cardboard. The Games were allowed because German forces had respect for prisoners who held military titles. During world war 2 they used boxing to train troops for war, then it became a sport for entertainment. Boxing would ready troops for hand-to-hand combat. The war not only affected the careers of certain fighters, but also helped to make or break the fame of many others.Television began airing fights on multiple nights of the week to fans around the country. This helped certain fighters gain more exposure, but also hurt the fighters in the lower echelons of the sport who were trying to establish themselves. Basketball during world war 2 used to be called BAA before they came up with NBA. BAA and NBL merged to form one league and that's how NBA was made, which was started in 1950 and only had 17 teams. In 1936 they had a team called the dream team which had a total of 14 players and at their game they went 5-0 and won the gold metal.…
