Gravy shares stories of the changing American South through the foods we eat. Gravy showcases a South that is constantly evolving, accommodating new immigrants, adopting new traditions, and lovingly maintaining old ones. It uses food as a means to explore all of that, to dig into lesser-known corners of the region, complicate stereotypes, document new dynamics, and give voice to the unsung folk who grow, cook, and serve our daily meals.

The Spirit Plate podcast is an honoring of all the Indigenous communities across Turtle Island (also known as North America) who are working to preserve and revitalize their ancestral foodways. Within the growing Indigenous food movement lies an incredible story of reclamation and intertribal solidarity; powerful yet untold examples of Native peoples resisting and thriving. Spirit Plate is a space for Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island to tell our own history and shape the narrative of our communities—especially as it relates to land and our relationships to food. Through interviews with seedkeepers, chefs, farmers and community members, this podcast will share what food justice and sovereignty look like for Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island. Shiloh will discuss the social, political, and historical reasons the Indigenous food sovereignty movement is necessary, as well as what that looks like for Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island. She hopes this podcast will inspire you not only to think about your connection to place and how it has influenced your relationship with food, but also to build genuine relationships and stand in solidarity with the original caretakers of the place you reside. Spirit Plate is part of Whetstone Radio Collective.
