Songwriter’s Unblocked is back this week with Claire Davis and Leo Son, the primary songwriters from Boston band The Q-Tips Bandits. They discuss how they collaborate as a five person band and the influence this has on their songwriting processes, while comparing structure-based writing vs. inspiration-based writing. They also discuss their instrumental abilities and how their connections to their instruments influences their songwriting.

The Q-Tip Bandits formed in 2018 while attending Berklee College or Music. The Boston based five-piece combine multiple genres including rock, R&B and funk. Since their inception, The Q-Tip Bandits have hit the music scene running, with their single “Willow” accumulating over 2 million streams in Spotify. They have also released their debut album Melancholy Flowers was released in 2022 and have been touring around the United States since.
