Once, when Goddess Parvati was upset that no one on Kailash parvat valued her orders the most, she was advised by two of her confidantes, Jaya and Vijaya, to build a boy from herself and then bring it to life. That boy when he came alive, turned out to be Lord Ganesh, a devoted son of Mata Parvati.
