In this episode, we explore the potential TikTok ban and its impact on podcasters, drawing on my personal experience of being banned from TikTok at nearly 200,000 followers.

I share hard-learned lessons and actionable strategies for safeguarding your content, building a resilient audience, and leveraging social media effectively.

  1. Diversify Your Platforms: Don’t rely solely on one platform. Repurpose content across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and others to ensure your audience can find you, no matter what happens.
  2. 1. Own Your Assets: The only things you truly own are your podcast RSS feed, website, and email list. Use social media as a lead-generation tool to direct followers to these permanent assets.
  3. Lead Your Audience: Encourage followers to connect with you on multiple platforms and sign up for your email list or newsletter. This ensures you maintain access to your audience even if a platform goes offline.
  4. Social Media as a Funnel: Treat social platforms as top-of-the-funnel tools to drive engagement and downloads for your podcast, which can later attract sponsorships or other opportunities.
  5. Stay Prepared: Whether TikTok gets banned or not, always plan for the unexpected. Follow a content distribution strategy like the 60/20/20 or 25/25/25 rule to spread your efforts across platforms.
