In this episode, Erin Olson discusses how the position of our heart toward God reveals the posture of our heart toward God. If you were to rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being not good and 10 being great), how would you rate your relationship with God right now? God desires a positional relationship with each one of us. This episode elaborates on the physical positions of our hearts and how it affects our relationship with God and others. Like sunflowers who track east to west when young (heliotropism), we often get to a place where we feel spiritually mature and stay facing east and fail to track toward God continually day in and day out throughout season to season. More important than charisma, stage presence, number of followers, and size of one’s ministry is character. Church leaders are called to be leaders who serve and run their households well. When Christian leaders struggle and fall, it doesn’t happen overnight. This chapter outlines how elders and deacons should behave in their positions. It also helps non-leaders within the Church know what to look for in a biblical leader. Elders = servant leaders Deacons = leading servants The offices of elders (overseers, pastors) and deacons vary in roles, however, both are to be complimentary toward one another as they support the Church.
