The guys talk about the strain infertility placed on Toby’s relationship, and how he and his wife supported each other through the hardest times. When they finally opened up to others, it led to unexpected discoveries—Toby’s younger brother also carries the cystic fibrosis gene which is what caused Tony's own fertility issues.

Today, after a long and challenging journey, Toby and his wife are blessed to have a daughter. He now focuses on supporting other men navigating similar experiences.

A bio from Toby….

My name is Toby Burns, and my journey into the world of fertility has been deeply personal and life-changing. After months of trying for a baby, I was devastated to discover I was a carrier of the cystic fibrosis gene, which affects the vas deferens and meant I needed a surgical sperm retrieval (MESA) to have a chance at becoming a dad. My wife and I had to put our wedding plans on hold due to Covid, and we chose to dedicate all the money we’d saved to start our IVF journey instead. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions—it has often felt like everything is against us, from my wife going through cancer in 2018 to the challenges of fertility. But through it all, we’ve learned that positivity is key.

Eighteen months ago, I started sharing my story more openly, hoping to shed light on male fertility challenges and break the stigma men often face. Speaking on platforms like LBC has been empowering, and I hope my honesty helps others feel less alone. This is not just my story—it’s a cause I’m passionate about, and I’m determined to raise awareness and encourage more open conversations about male infertility.
