Let’s be honest, most industries have a stereotype, whether that’s the nerdy IT department, the super cool and super young social media team or the grey boring accountants who love a spreadsheet and tax returns.

So when you are storytelling for business, how do you avoid being cast as that stereotypical person?

Katie Flamman is joined by Dai Rose, a very much not grey financial advisor to explore just that.

Dai shares how he actively markets himself as the opposite to the stereotypical finance person and how that has helped him build trust and connection with potential clients and his local community.

Key Takeaways

  • Stereotypes can hinder effective communication. Dai Rose addresses potential biases associated with his role as a financial advisor by using humor and honesty to connect with his audience and break down preconceptions.
  • Authenticity is key in building relationships. Dai's genuine and real approach has contributed to the success of his business. The interview serves as a case study for the marketing concept of "know, like, and trust".
  • Business storytelling and corporate social responsibility are intertwined. Dai combines his work as a kids' rugby coach with his role as a financial advisor to support disadvantaged children in his community. He aims to provide food, funding, and education to improve their prospects.
