I Tried This it Worked EPISODE ONE / THE ADHD BLURT!

Description

In this episode Emma and Stuart discuss blurting or saying things without careful consideration. You obviously don’t need to have ADHD to blurt but Adhders can be quite skilled at it! Stuart talks candidly about how blurting has negatively affected him in his life both in the work-place and in his personal life, and the discussion turns to things that help stop the blurt.

Are you a blurter? How has it affected you and what have you tried that has worked when it comes to blurting.

Quotes from podcast:

Emma Aylett “ADHDers often have very fast thinking brains. Our ideas are already formed before another person can finish what they are saying. Or you may already feel that you know the answer… sometimes it's really important to remember what that feels like, on the other side, to the person who's trying to say something.”

Stuart Cohen “How can I redirect from that moment when I feel that volcano ready to explode and a blurt coming on? What can I do because we have choices. And it would be grand and great if we could deconstruct that habit and reconstruct something new.”

I tried this it worked blurting insights:

9.01: Emma wonders what it might feel like on the other side of the blurt.

12.09: Stuart talks about the positive side of blurting.

12.43: Emma talks about controlling blurting.
