Pioneers of Country January 31, 2015 Dave highlights Jim Ed Brown's new album, “In Style again”. We begin the show with a true Pioneer of Country Music, Buck Owens. After mentioning the expected snowstorm in the Northern Midwest, Dave plays Is Anybody Going to San Antone by Charley Pride. A couple of cuts from Jim Ed Brown's new album. Then Dave reminisces on his trip to Nashville several years ago. Next is a request from long time loyal listener Tom Steiner. Merle Haggard and Big City, followed by Canadian Troubadour Stompin' Tom Connors and Zakuska Polka. Dave runs down some chart toppers on January 31st from the 1950's and plays Billy Bayou by Jim Reeves. Dave runs down the line-up of Saturday's Grand Ole Opry thanks to Fayfare's Opry Blog. Then another from Jim Ed Brown's album. This time with long time singing partner, Helen Cornelius. Next is a debut act for our show. The first time we have played music by The Old Crow Medicine Show. Ian Tyson is next followed by Six String Stu and Please Come to Boston. Eddie Cantor, “Ole Banjo Eyes” was born on this day in 1892. Dave plays an Eddie Cantor tune. Hello Walls by Faron Young is next followed by Jeanne Pruett who's birthday was January 30th and Satin Sheets. More satin sheets with Johnny Paycheck and Slide Off Of Your Satin Sheets. A few more from Jim Ed Brown's Album In Style Again. Dave then gives some statistics on inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Dave then puts in his opinion that Dottie West should be the next inductee to the country hall of fame. Next is an unlikely duo, Bill Anderson and Willie Nelson sing The Lord Knows I'm Drinking. Some great country music round out the live broadcast for today. Special Note: Most of the E-Mail, chat room, and web sites mentioned no longer exist.
