Welcome to My Climate Story, where we meet inspiring Leeds alumni around the globe who are helping to combat the climate crisis.

In the build-up to COP26, this mini-series is a chance for the Leeds community to learn more about climate action, how others are making a difference, and how they too might help create a more sustainable future.

In episode one, Sustainable Fashion and Business, host Simon Moore puts the important questions to Leeds alumni Rupa Ganguli (MSc Textile Management 2001), Founder of Inclusive Trade, and Adam Savitz (Environmental Science 2003; MA Environment & Business 2004), Sustainability Director at Johnson Controls.

How is business contributing to the climate crisis? What needs to happen in the fashion industry, and in business to create a sustainable future? And how might COP26 help get us there?

We also discover the role Leeds played in our guests’ careers, and hear some advice on how you too could forge a career in sustainability.

* Presented by Simon Moore (Biology 2014), alum and communications officer at University of Leeds and Admin and Logistics Lead with the Climate Action Leeds programme. Follow @Simon_C_Moore on Twitter.

Featuring Rupa Ganguli, founder of Inclusive Trade, connecting artisan brands with consumers who want to make ethical and sustainable lifestyle choices. Read more about Rupa in our alumni magazine and follow @Rupa_Ganguli on Twitter.

And Adam Savitz, Sustainability Director for Europe, Middle East Africa and Latin America at Johnson Controls International, the smart buildings company aiming to reduce 40% of emissions from the built environment to reach net-zero by 2050. Read more about Adam in our 2020 alumni profiles and follow @AdamSavitz on Twitter.

Produced by Ed Newbould, communications executive, University of Leeds.
