We can sometimes think of our Christian faith as a system: a series of inputs and outcomes. The more good you put in, the more God that comes out. We bring our kids to church, pray before dinner, and avoid using any four-letter words in their presence. We teach them to dress appropriately, speak respectfully, do their homework, and get home before curfew. And if we do it ‘right’, we expect the desired outcome: kids who obey, don’t get in trouble, and - eventually - raise their own kids the same way.
But genuine faith is not the same as following a list of do’s and don’ts...
