NCAA settlement and explore innovative ways to implement its key provisions. Judge Wilkens did not Approve the Settlement in the House vs. NCAA case. In a nutshell U.S. District Court Judge Claudia Wilkens said "Taking things Away from People is not A Good Idea" She didn't like the restrictions the parties placed on 3rd party collectives, the cap of 20 million dollars, or the fact this settlement would apply to a person who is 6 years old and didn't have representation in the settlement. On April 23, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission voted to finalize a new rule to prohibit employers from enforcing noncompetes against workers. •The Commission has determined that noncompetes are an unfair method of competitionand therefore violate Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act (“FTC Act”). •The final rule prohibits employers from entering into new noncompetes with workers on or after the effective date. •The rule also prohibits employers from enforcing existing noncompetes with workers other than senior executives. •The rule takes effect 120 days from publication in the Federal Register.
