Trump’s response to the ICE attack tells us a lot. When Charlie Kirk was killed, Trump ignored the broader issue of school violence and focused entirely on the victim. But when detainees were shot in Dallas, he ignored the victims and focused entirely on ICE. For Trump, victims aren’t people — they’re props, talking points he uses when they serve his narrative, and discards when they don’t.
