Trump is once again using the politics of fear and control. By sending troops into Washington, D.C. and other cities, he isn’t really trying to reduce crime — he’s trying to look “tough on crime” while setting Democrats up to look weak when they oppose him.
This isn’t about safety. It’s about normalizing militarized policing and preparing the ground for something more dangerous: using force to influence elections. It may sound conspiratorial, but Trump has already tried to subvert democracy once. Why wouldn’t he prepare to do it again?
