On this episode of Pilsners and Politics, Benjamin sits down with Matthew Hurtt, a political activist and a political organizer for the Arlington Republican Committee, to discuss the red wave that swept through Virginia on 11/2/2021. The duo discuss what led Republicans to sweep the three highest seats in the state, as well as what led to the shift of power in House of Delegates.
Republicans in rural Virginia counties came out in force, and helped offset the democrat controlled Northern Virginia and Richmond suburbs. The issues that Youngkin ran on, are winning issues that Republicans eyeing congressional seats in 2022 should focus on. If one lesson is to be learned here, it's listening to the people is more important than listening to the donor class.
