When you're struggling to be "successful" as a pattern designer, or in anything you do, really, it can be easy to look at what other folks are doing, make assumptions about whether or not they are successful, and if you think they're successful, want to copy what they're doing. You aren't intentionally trying to copy them; you're just trying to find the secret to success. But any time you try to follow what someone else is doing because you think it's what you "should" be doing, you're approaching a slippery slope.
I'm guessing you started designing crochet and/or knitting patterns because it's something you loved, and then you decided to start a business around it. You didn't set out to be confined by boxes of what "everyone else" is doing, and when you do get stuck in those boxes... it makes your brand less appealing to your customers.
If you're struggling with comparisonitis and/or are feeling like "everyone else" is successful and you need to unlock the success secrets, I've recorded this podcast episode just for you.
