To Please Your Master – Colossians 3:22-4:1 (5/12/24 p.m. sermon)

One of the difficult subjects that we occasionally find in the Bible is that of slavery. It is important for us to understand slavery as it was practiced in first-century Roman empire, and what power the church had, or rather, didn’t have, to bring about change from the top down. Living in such a society, the apostle Paul and other NT writers gave instruction for how individuals in such relationships, whether enslaved or masters, should treat one another.
