Point Break was released in 1991; directed by Kathryn Bigelow. Starring both Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves.
The film introduces us to Johnny Utah who is a rookie F.B.I agent in Los Angeles, CA. He finds himself catapulted into a case to apprehend notorious bank robbers that have amassed numerous robberies for years without ever getting caught. Case work and evidence leads Utah to believe that the suspects are surfers who rob banks to “finance their endless summer”.
Through his investigative work, Utah interacts with Bodhi a known surfer through the various inner-circles around the various beaches in Southern California. His work causes Utah to go in deeper and as more clues continue to lead him to the suspects, he is forced to make a number of very important decisions with irreversible ramifications.
This is a prototypical 90’s movie filled with cliche’ lines and themes that are later duplicated in later ‘cop films’. Aside from all the cheesy lines and plot holes lies a film jam packed with action. If you are an action movie lover, this film definitely has it’s moments.
