Manage episode 339210508 series 3388545
Franklin Delano Roosevelt delivered his 3rd inaugural address on January 20th, 1941. Read by Isaac Meyer, host of the History of Japan podcast (http://isaacmeyer.net/). FDR is, and will remain, the only president to serve more than two terms (barring a repeal of the 22nd amendment). The United States had managed to officially stay out of the war, but that all changed after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7ty, 1941. Events quickly followed – Japan declared war on the United States, followed by Britain declaring war on Japan, followed by the United States declaring war on Japan, followed by Germany and Italy declaring war on the United States, followed by the United States declaring war on Germany and Italy.
