We're heading Southbound on this episode and talking about one of the greatest bands of all time, The Allman Brothers Band.
Craig Cohen (The G.O.A.T - A Brian DePalma fan podcast) and me go back to the beginnings of this legendary Southern band (just don't call them a Southern Rock band) and how Duane Allman cobbled together a diverse group of musicians whose common cause was to blend, rock, r&b, jazz, blues, and country into a unique sound and take jamming to new heights...and lengths.
We focus on the classic era of the band from 1969-1973, and while it was an era beset by tragedy, it yielded some of the finest music ever made and made legends out of Duane, his brother Gregg, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jaimoe.
