What’s the secret to lasting friendships? How does queer community show up through the ebbs and flows of life? And what’s the REAL story behind the “YMCA” song? In the first episode of Silver Linings, The Old Gays dive into an essential part of queer life: chosen family. They discuss the vital love, support, and sense of belonging that community provides, especially during life's toughest moments. They open up about what “queer” means to them, how chosen family has impacted their lives, and how to maintain close bonds over time–including their love for each other! “We’ve come a long way, baby.” Family isn’t just what you’re born with; it’s the people who show up, shape you, and stick around. Hebrews 13:7-25 // There are three final invitations from the book of Hebrews to the church: to remember, respond to, and pray for leaders; to embrace their identity as outsiders in the world; and to focus primarily on Jesus as the ultimate example and leader. There are complexities of church leadership, including the potential for hurt, the importance of humility, and a Christ-centered approach to both leading and following.

In Ephesians 5, Paul calls us to be filled with the Spirit, which enables us to live lives marked by wisdom, worship, gratitude, and mutual submission out of reverence for Christ. Instead of being shaped by the world or our desires, we’re invited to let the Spirit transform the way we walk, speak, and love.…
Walk boldly toward God and away from the false promises the world preaches. Recognize that culture is constantly shaping you—spiritually and sexually—and don’t be fooled by what it calls freedom or satisfaction. Instead, take no part in these things. Call out the works of darkness for what they truly are: a fraud and a lie.…
We grieve the Spirit when we live in falsehood, sin in our anger, and multiple corrupt talk. We need to ask the same Spirit for help to put that off and put on kindness and tenderness.
We are called to turn from the futility and darkness of worldly thinking and be renewed in the spirit of our minds. Like changing garments, we take off the old self and put on the new—created to reflect God’s righteousness, holiness, and truth.
In a divided world, Christ calls us to walk in unity — rooted in humility, fueled by His grace, and strengthened by the gifts He gives. Ephesians 4 reminds us that we are called, equipped, and never alone as we live out the mission He’s placed on our lives.
There is a factual, historical basis for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The issue we have to grapple with is not just, “Is it true?” but, “What if it is the truth – the core and central reality of all our lives?” The resurrection defines what the truth is and why it matters.
In Luke 19:35–46, we see Jesus enter with sorrow, authority, and purpose. We don’t ignore His tears or fear His discipline—we surrender, trusting He’s at work in us. His presence is not just known but experienced as He dwells in our hearts.
We are called to move from involvement to true commitment to Jesus and His gospel. We are invited to see our places of confinement not as limitations, but as assignments—spaces where we are sent on behalf of others. We are challenged to embrace the mystery that God chooses to use us, here and now. And we are urged to search out the unsearchable riches of Christ, exploring and displaying the many folds of His grace in our lives.…
Jesus invites us into a deep friendship with Him and with each other. Today, Ryan shares the loving responsibilities that come with spiritual friendship—both to one another and for one another.
“Jesus is not one gate among many, nor is He a way we carve for ourselves—He alone is the gate, and only by passing through Him can we know true freedom and salvation.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
When we were dead in our sins, we were enslaved by the desires of our flesh and followed the course of this world. However, in Christ, we have been made alive by His grace. Not only are we alive, but we are also God’s masterpiece, created for a purpose.
Paul moves from praise to prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to help the Ephesian church see the hope of God’s calling, the riches of His inheritance among the people of Jesus, and the incredible power God has for His church — a power that is on full display through Jesus’s resurrection and ascension as ruler of the world.…
Mitch reminds us that our security in Jesus is grounded in the reality that we are adopted children of our Heavenly Father, who adopted us as a result of His good will, pleasure and grace.
How do we encounter God in evangelism? When we step out in faith to share the gospel, we experience His power, receive the words we need, and become vessels for His appeal to the world. In the process, He transforms us, deepening our maturity and dependence on Him.
