There’s only so much you can do in a week – or, according to Oliver Burkeman, in the roughly 4,000 weeks the average human lives. Oliver is a journalist and author of the books Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals, Meditations for Mortals, and the newsletter “The Imperfectionist.” Chris and Oliver discuss the paradox of why change can only occur once we accept that we might not be able to change. Oliver also shares how life’s mishaps can become our most treasured memories and why sharing your imperfections is an act of generosity. Beata Seweryn-Reid, is a Transformation Life Coach, International Speaker and Change Maker. Awarded as “Woman of Excellence 2019” by the Women’s Economic Forum in India. Beata emigrated from Poland in 2011 and just recently became a citizen of the United States. While adjusting to a new culture and trying so hard to blend into new surroundings..she struggled with accepting her accent. During these challenging times she realized that more than anything else, our thinking has the ability to either get in our way or to propel us to great success, whether personally or professionally. Today, Beata enjoys helping others conquer significant changes in their own lives and ultimately seeing them break through their limiting thoughts to achieve the life they desire through her unique process of coaching through journaling. Beata is passionate about living her life fully, so she likes to challenge her fears with activities like skiing, skydiving (yes she left a plane that was not broken) and public speaking. #loveyourlife #meaningfulconversations #selflove --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whatsyourleap/support…
Former Alcohol and Drug Enthusiast, Johannah was in the midst of a heavy party lifestyle. During this period of her life, was ignoring a mole on her arm that was continuing to change shape. She chose to put a band-aid over that mole, ignoring her intuition of knowing this was serious. In time, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma. During her recovery, she found that her friends and support circle fell away and found herself drinking alone and feeling alone. As a trained therapist, she lost her own lust for life. It was in this dark space, she made a decision to abandon her old way of being and dig into herself to find her light - her spark. This was the transition and the more she loved on herself, the brighter she felt. Leaning into body movement and her own awareness of what she was consuming in nutrition and being mindful of her conversation, her social circle and the messages around her, she discovered what she had already had inside and has taken this message and is now sharing with her clients on how movement and positive mindset can set the path to your greatest inner joy. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whatsyourleap/support…
Spent time this past weekend digging out the weeds in my vegetable garden this weekend in preparation for the season. In doing so, I was sure to dig out the roots of those weeds so that they could no longer return. It got me thinking about digging out the roots of the stories and judgments that we lay upon ourselves that no longer serve us. Instead, let's dig out the roots of those negative stories to make room for new ideas that nourish our being. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whatsyourleap/support…
I found myself in many states of resistance today. Resisting personal growth. Resisting conversations. Resisting completion of work. Resisting the constructs that are in place during our Stay At Home status. Resisting others reaching out. Are you finding yourself in a similar state? Can you see yourself resisting an element(s) in your current circumstance? Is resistance working for you or against you? What feelings might come up when you hear the word? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whatsyourleap/support…
In this episode, I sit down with Kayla Ferguson, founder of The Same Plate. The Same Plate connects communities through curated, global food events that are delivered locally. Through group dinners and group or individual cooking experiences, The Same Plate creates inclusive spaces for people of all identities and backgrounds to eat, think, talk and connect. In the wake of COVID -19, The Same Plate has partnered with CityCraft Foundation in an effort to support both our incredible healthcare workers and local restaurants in the Denver Metro area. Why this campaign, you ask? Shortly after quarantine orders were put in place, numerous partner restaurants reached out, wondering how they were going to withstand months of reduced sales. At the same time, countless news stories began to circulate about the stress Corona is putting on our healthcare system. So, a group of us got together and said why don't we find a way to support local business and our healthcare workers? And we did just that. How, you now ask? 1. The Same Plate is collecting monetary donations via the donate button on The Same Plate homepage (www.thesameplate.com). 2. The Same Plate will distribute that money to local restaurants to prepare takeout orders for local hospitals in Denver (St. Anthony's and Rose Hospital specifically). Now, more than ever many of us are feeling called to support our communities, and this is one small way Kayla and her team have found to do so. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whatsyourleap/support…
In this episode, I interview muralist Lindee Zimmer. Lindee went to school for fine art and along her path, she became an advocate for artists' fair wages and education in her community. Over time, she has created large scale art on public buildings local to her hometown and across the US. She is passionate that art is to be shared and accessible to all, hence her public art displays. We dive into the burnout of working for yourself and how Lindee recharges her senses. She also discusses how she surrounds herself with artists of all variety - which supports her creative expansion as well as ongoing discussion on how to grow her own reach. You can find Lindee on Instagram @lindeezimmer and at zimmerlindee.com ---- To learn more about Leap, the podcast and coaching services, please join us on our LEAP Facebook page at facebook.com/whatsyourleap Schedule a Discovery Call at calendly.com/whatsyourleap ---- Produced by: David Margittai | In Post Media Website: inpostmedia.com Email: david@inpostmedia.com Social: @_margittai --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whatsyourleap/support…
