True Sacrifice Come At A Cost

In 2 Samuel 24:18–25, we encounter a powerful account of King David's response to God's instruction to offer a sacrifice on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite. This passage vividly illustrates the principle that true sacrifice is not without cost.
Earlier in the chapter, David's sin of conducting a census, driven by pride and reliance on numbers rather than God, had brought divine judgment upon Israel. A devastating plague broke out as a result. In his mercy, God gave David a way to intercede for the people and stop the plague: build an altar and offer a sacrifice on the threshing floor of Araunah.
