Born and raised in a south suburb of Chicago, IL, Aria Craig lived a life full of hardships – being raised by a poor single mother without a father, low self-image, little guidance on her future, and emotional / psychological setbacks (including molestation and bullying). At the age of 22, she became a single mother herself. However, Aria was determined to strive through the challenges and excel against stigmas and stereotypes of single motherhood, earning a B.S. in Technical Management and M.B.A. in Business Administration. She has more than 13 years of finance experience in the legal industry and 8 years of leadership, mentoring, project management, and financial analysis experience in the health insurance industry. On 11/11/11, she married her husband, who actively participated in Real Men Read, a little league baseball, and Boy Scouts.
Aria’s most influential role, nonetheless, is that of a single mother to a teenage son. Since he was a toddler, family, friends and perfect strangers gave him accolades on his character and complimented her on her commitment to stewardship as his mother. Everyone saw his leadership abilities that she fashioned into him, including being valedictorian in kindergarten, Class President of Student Council in 5th grade, volunteering in communities, and receiving leadership awards from church youth conferences. Being an expert in co-parenting, Aria was compelled to share her tips on being a successful and educated working single mother.
In a three-part empowerment series entitled, The Single Mother Diaries, Aria gives wisdom for single, divorced, co-parenting and blended-family households in improving on parenting skills, becoming business savvy in Corporate America / entrepreneurship, and cultivating healthy relationships with their significant others. The 1st volume provides tips covering:
•Sex, bullying and drugs
•Successful co-parenting techniques
•Encouraging your child’s talents
•Teaching and showing respect
•Coaching your child in building valuable relationships and leadership abilities
