Black metal. But make it western. We welcome frontman Shane McCarthy from Colorado-based black metal outfit, Wayfarer. In this episode of IUF, Shane talks about the 11-plus-year journey for the band, leading up to their fifth studio album, titled “American Gothic.” Powerful riffing, bleak melodic sensibilities and visceral songwriting have cemented Wayfarer as one of the modern innovators of the genre. Black metal may have been born in the Scandinavian countries of Northern Europe and the UK, but Wayfarer have now put in a twist of their own from the Western part of the globe. “American Gothic” showcases this creativity in tremendous fashion.
