MIT CISR’s research on digital culture (2023) emphasizes four key elements that organizations must cultivate to support successful digital transformations:
- Innovation Mindset: being comfortable with experimentation, having tolerance for risk, being willing to learn, and being able to adapt
- Data-Driven Decision Making: using analytics, making choices based on evidence, using performance measurement, and continually improving
- Agile Ways of Working: using an iterative approach, collaborating across functions, making quick decisions, and responding flexibly
- Customer Centricity: focusing on experience, creating value, integrating feedback, and adapting continually
By fostering these traits, companies can create an environment that is more open to change and better able to use digital technologies. In addition, these companies can better respond to market changes and customer needs.
