This week Howie was attending the European Greens Congress in Ireland during the livestream, so we are airing two interviews he has conducted in his travels. First is an interview with Lela Rekhviashvili about Georgia being caught between Western and Russian imperialism, which is timely given the massive protests now in Georgia against authoritarian rule. Second is an interview with Gretchen Dutschke Klotz, the widow Rudi Dutschke. Rudi was “Red Rudi,” the notorious leader of German SDS, the youth group of the Social Democrats that broke away from it in the 1960s, and one of the key organizers of the Green party movement in the 1970s, promoting ecosocialist as an alternative to Western Social Democracy’s regulated capitalism and the Soviet bloc's authoritarian rule by the bureaucratic party-state calling itself socialist.
