Many independent GI practices are familiar with the effects of physician burnout, which has become an epidemic in the U.S. health care system. Almost two-thirds of physicians have reported signs of burnout such as emotional exhaustion and a decrease in satisfaction with work-life integration at least once per week. Dr. Fred Rosenberg interviews Rachel Kanarowski, founder of Year of Living Better, an organization that uses evidence-based well-being solutions to transform workplaces from systems that increase stress to systems that enhance well-being. While many factors contribute to burnout, it is often associated with system inefficiencies, administrative burdens and increased regulation and technology requirements. Join Dr. Rosenberg and Ms. Kanarowski as they explore ways that physicians can recognize signals from their parasympathetic nervous system and develop self care tools to address stress and burnout in their daily work lives. Produced by Andrew Sousa and Hayden Margolis for Steadfast Collaborative, LLC Mixed and mastered by Hayden Margolis Gastro Broadcast, Episode 43
