Cet automne, l’État français introduit une nouvelle version de la « Journée Défense et Citoyenneté » obligatoire pour tous les jeunes Français entre 17 et 18 ans. Celle-ci se veut plus immersive avec lever de drapeau, chant de la Marseillaise et même tir sportif au laser.

Ce changement a lieu dans une période où certains expriment une nostalgie du service militaire obligatoire et où beaucoup s’interrogent sur la possibilité de réintroduire un service national obligatoire sous une forme ou une autre.

Alors, faut-il réintroduire un service militaire obligatoire en France ?

Should compulsory military service be reintroduced in France?

This fall, the French government is introducing a new version of the mandatory “Defense and Citizenship Day” for all young French people between the ages of 17 and 18. This version is intended to be more immersive, with flag raising, singing of the Marseillaise, and even laser shooting.

This change comes at a time when some people are expressing nostalgia for compulsory military service and many are questioning the possibility of reintroducing compulsory national service in one form or another.

So, should compulsory military service be reintroduced in France?
