How do you deal with Character Bleed?

Character Bleed can be a heavy subject for TTRPGs, when the lines between your character and you, the player, bleed together and your emotions bleed over into either direction.

It is a real heavy subject that does not always end positively, so how do we deal with it? How do we make sure it doesn't impede our fun and enjoyment of this hobby?
