How to make great TTRPG Handouts

Everyone loves it when the GM hands you an old letter from an NPC or gives you a physical puzzle to touch. But what more is there to Props and using them?

Handouts and Props are a great addition to playing TTRPGs, but how can we design these handouts to fit our table and needs to evoke immersion, help share information and create a better sense of play.
