On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. It Is A Day To Rest “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NLT) 2. It Is A Day To Nurture Relationships “On the first day of the week we come together to break bread…” Acts 20:7 (NIV) “One Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees…” Luke 14:1 (NLT) “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT) 3. It Is A Day To Receive “On the first day of the week, we gathered with the local believers to share in the Lord’s Supper. Paul was preaching to them, and since he was leaving the next day, he kept talking until midnight.” Acts 20:7 (NLT) • The Word Of God • Spiritual Renewal • Focus For Our Life 4. It Is A Day To Trust “He told them, “This is what the LORD commanded: Tomorrow will be a day of complete rest, a holy Sabbath day set apart for the LORD. So bake or boil as much as you want today, and set aside what is left for tomorrow.” 24 So they put some aside until morning, just as Moses had commanded. And in the morning the leftover food was wholesome and good, without maggots or odor.” Exodus 16:23-24 (NLT)
