Many famous individuals throughout history have experienced feelings of loneliness and depression. Their struggles serve as a reminder that these emotions can affect anyone, regardless of their outward success or recognition. Depression and loneliness are common struggles that many people face. But what does Jesus have to say about these difficult emotions? We will explore some key examples of what Jesus says about depression and loneliness. He experienced these emotions Himself. In Matthew 26:36–38, Jesus goes to the garden of Gethsemane to pray before His arrest and crucifixion. He tells His disciples, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.
