Copa America Impending Lawsuit; Nate Diaz Sues His Boxing Promoter; House v. NCAA's Missed Deadline; National Anthem Rehab
Manage episode 429304248 series 3445519
On this episode of Conduct Detrimental: THE Sports Law Podcast, Dan Lust (@SportsLawLust) and Mike Kravchenko (Find him on YouTube) guide you through the latest updates in the sports law world as we find ourselves with a jam-packed week.
Dan and Mike dive into the disastrous event management incident that occurred during the Copa America Final between Colombia and Argentina. Actions included fans rushing through gates as kickoff approached, un-ticketed fans breaking through and sneaking through things like vents, and security concerns arose as the stadium became overpopulated beyond safety limits...this list goes on and there are many layers to cover this week.
The duo also discusses a new lawsuit filed by Nate Diaz claiming he is owed $9 million by the promoter of his boxing match against Jorge Masvidal. Diaz was allegedly paid only 10% of his $10 million purse, so his team filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida suing for fraud and breach of contract.
They cover the unsurprising delay in the NCAA v. House settlement as the smaller schools fight back and the deadline continues to be pushed. While in the UFC, their settlement that was all but signed off is likely headed to trial. Not so fast!
Mike brutally brings up the Home Run Derby National Anthem while Dan shares his recommendations for watching the Giants' Hard Knocks and Roku's NFL draft series "The Pick is In."
