In this issue of Com d'Archi, through the voice of Esther, Charles Hesters and Pierre Martin-Saint-Etienne tell us about their agency HEMAA Architectes and their project for a school in Heudebouville, France.

HEMAA is a young agency that already works on all scales, from architecture to town and country planning.

Because they place context at the center of their approach, their operations are infused by a soft magic, that of benefitting the inhabitants beyond the limits of their land plot. The architect becomes a builder and a composer, matching the conceptual position of the proposal to the physical situation on the site.

This is evidenced by their project for a school in Heudebouville, in a remarkable site which backdrop is the hillsides of the Seine Valley. Itis at the border of two landscapes - natural with the Normandy bocage, and built, the typical village center. With the strategy of putting the right material in the right place, wood and slate in this case, this realization is also the occasion to evoke the figure of the archetype, the imbrication in a context and how to anticipate the future.
