Interviewed by Francis Bouchard, Duke University's Climate Leader in Residence, Reese May discusses the importance of improving flood insurance markets by considering affordability in at-risk communities. Reese also notes the importance of developing new insurance products, such as community-based catastrophe insurance and parametric insurance products, to better serve the country. Reese then details the need to consider perverse incentives associated with disaster declaration payouts that disincentivize purchase of full catastrophe coverage.
