On this interview, Peter Mingils shares an interview with Jim Turner, we discuss Homeopathy, Censorship and the politcal environment at that time.

Jim Turner: Consumer Advocate and Health Freedom Champion James S. "Jim" Turner (1940–2022) was a pioneering attorney, author, and consumer advocate whose relentless pursuit of health freedom reshaped U.S. regulatory landscapes. Born in 1940, Turner launched his career in the late 1960s as one of the original "Nader's Raiders," working under consumer crusader Ralph Nader. At just 30, he penned the explosive 1970 exposé The Chemical Feast: Ralph Nader's Study Group Report on the Food and Drug Administration, with Nader providing the introduction. Hailed by Time magazine as "the most devastating critique of a U.S. government agency ever issued," the book lambasted the FDA for prioritizing industry profits over public safety, exposing lax oversight of additives, pesticides, and drug approvals. It sold widely, sparking congressional hearings and reforms, including the removal of the artificial sweetener cyclamate from the market after Turner's legal challenges.Turner co-authored further works, including Making Your Own Baby Food (1974, over a million copies sold) and Voice of the People: The Transpartisan Imperative in American Life (2008), advocating bipartisan unity for public welfare. As an attorney, he served as special counsel to Senate committees on nutrition and government research, blocking FTC bans on terms like "organic" and "natural." In 1978, he founded the National Institute for Science, Law, and Public Policy (NISLAP) to bridge scientific gaps in health legislation.A cornerstone of his legacy was co-founding Citizens for Health (CFH) in 1992, where he served as chairman until his death. Through CFH (https://citizens.org), Turner championed consumer access to supplements, acupuncture, and naturopathy. He led the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) passage, amassing 1.5 million public comments to protect supplements from overregulation. From 1994–1996, as lead counsel, he successfully petitioned the FDA to reclassify acupuncture needles as Class II devices, enabling their importation and mainstreaming the practice—paving the way for insurance coverage.Turner fiercely opposed toxins like aspartame, filing objections that delayed approvals and exposed FDA-industry collusion. His mantra, "Are we winning?" inspired allies in the natural products community. Passing suddenly on January 25, 2022, after a fall in his Washington, D.C., home, Turner left behind partner Betsy Lehrfeld, son Christopher, and a transpartisan vision of empowered health choices. As Michael McGuffin of the American Herbal Products Association noted, "Jim was a force to be reckoned with… for over half a century." His work endures through CFH's advocacy for pesticide-free organics, chemical-free products, and holistic freedoms, proving one voice can feast on corruption and foster true nourishment.
