Ilan and Rina Perry are our guests on KISC My Health Radio show with Peter Mingils and the King of Cranberries Stephen Lukawski.
Pharmaceuticals.
This week on KISC My Health Radio, Captain Cran Man Stephen Lukawski and Peter Mingils have the privilege of interviewing Ilan and Rina Perry. Among other things they are the owners and founders of Lipogen Lab.
They are from Israel they manufacture phospholipids they are king of the hill when it comes to manufacturing phospholipids. Listen in for their story.
Ilan and Rina Perry are the first ever husband and wife Team that we will be interviewing on KISC My Health radio. They have two children. They were able to reside in Texas for the last few years and dealt with the October 7th 2023 tragedy from the US while their Lab continued from Israel. Their son was at the music festival and was able to escape.

They are Pioneers in Phospholipid-Based Nutritional Innovation at Lipogen Pharmaceuticals. Ilan and Rina Perry stand as dynamic co-owners and key architects behind Lipogen Pharmaceuticals Ltd., a trailblazing Israeli biotechnology firm dedicated to harnessing phospholipids for cognitive health and overall wellness. Founded in 1991 by Professor Meir Shinitzky and a cadre of visionary scientists, Lipogen emerged from groundbreaking research linking cell membrane integrity—particularly through phospholipids like phosphatidylserine (PS)—to enhanced brain function, memory, and emotional resilience. The Perrys, who assumed ownership roles in the ensuing decades, have propelled the company from a modest startup to a global leader in nutraceuticals, emphasizing sustainable, science-backed formulations that fortify cellular health.Ilan Perry, Co-CEO, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice President of Product Development, embodies the operational rigor driving Lipogen's success. A Haifa native, Ilan honed his leadership in high-stakes environments as an officer in the Israeli Naval Forces, commanding a submarine squadron—a role demanding precision, efficiency, and crisis management. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in marine archaeology from the University of Haifa (1992–1995), which sharpened his analytical mindset for uncovering hidden patterns, much like excavating ancient artifacts. At Lipogen, Ilan "makes the organization hum," as he describes it, streamlining complex manufacturing processes to ensure products achieve peak efficiency, quality, and safety. His expertise spans marketing strategy, entrepreneurship, and customer service, enabling seamless global expansion. Under his stewardship, Lipogen has optimized production of phospholipid-rich ingredients, turning raw soy lecithin into bioavailable solutions via enzymatic processes.Rina Perry, Ilan's partner in both life and business, complements this operational prowess with deep scientific and innovative contributions. Though less spotlighted in public profiles, Rina—often credited as Rina Faierwerger Perry in technical documents—brings a chemistry and biotechnology lens to the team. Her work shines in patent filings, such as the 2015 Japanese application (JP2015057441A) for a phosphatidyl-L-serine-based alleviator of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms. This invention, developed through Lipogen Products (9000) Ltd., details enzymatic extraction from soy lecithin and clinical evaluations showing reduced PMS severity in trials with five women over multiple cycles. Dosed at 100 mg three times daily for three weeks pre-menstruation, the formula demonstrated symptom relief without recurrence upon cessation, highlighting Rina's focus on women's health and hormonal balance through targeted phospholipids.Together, the Perrys have co-authored innovations that bridge research and commercialization. A notable 2013 U.S. patent (US20140155354A1), assigned to Lipogen Ltd., outlines processes for phospholipid-enriched dairy products as nutraceuticals. Co-invented with Co-CEO David Rutenberg, it involves blending non-dairy PL sources with oils and water to create stable emulsions for functional foods, enhancing bioavailability in everyday items like milk or yogurt. This reflects their commitment to accessible, allergen-free solutions—vegan, FDA GRAS-compliant, and sustainable.Lipogen's flagship products, accessible via https://lipogenlab.com, underscore their impact. Lipogen IQ+ delivers PS for memory and focus, while the 2022-launched CognoLipid combines PS and phosphatidic acid (PA) to combat cognitive decline and chronic stress. Backed by randomized, double-blind trials reviewed in a 2023 Cureus study, CognoLipid improved focus, concentration, and mood across ages, earning independent validation among 1,380 cognition studies from 1982–2022. Ilan has championed this expansion, noting in press releases the shift from memory aids to holistic brain performance: "Cumulative research shows sharp focus, quick memory, and balanced mood as ideals for brain health."The Perrys' ethos—rooted in Shinitzky's membrane health discoveries—prioritizes evidence over hype. They've fostered partnerships, like the 2023 launch of TAB Pharmaceuticals in the Netherlands, and emphasized upcycled ingredients for eco-friendliness. Challenges, such as navigating global regulations and supply chains, have been met with resilience, mirroring Ilan's naval discipline. Today, as North American presence grows, their work empowers consumers to "fuel brain and nerve cells" for peak potential. In an era of cognitive overload, Ilan and Rina Perry's legacy at Lipogen is one of cellular empowerment: turning scientific insight into tangible vitality, one phospholipid at a time.
This is a delightful interview of how this couple works through building a successful industry in a challenging area. Thanks for a great interview.
