Kia ora, Talofa lava, Ma’lelei, Bula, Aloha and Welcome to Season 11 Episode 13 of Breakfast Bites, by TEIVOVOdigital.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on Tuesday morning 15 October 2024.
Happy Birthday Esther Heatley!
Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian, in the middle of the Blue continent, where it is partly cloudy and 24 degrees Celsius at 5am this morning.
In Rugby Union: Jarryd Hayne is back in rugby league, with the former NRL superstar taking on a mentoring role with the Fiji Bati ahead of the Pacific Championship.
Both News Corp and The Sydney Morning Herald reported the news yesterday, with the Herald reporting Hayne will work closely with Michael Jennings, Sunia Turuva, Viliame Kikau and Maika Sivo among others in the Fiji Bati squad.
Fiji Bati Head Coach Wise Kativerata, previously played for the Bati alongside Hayne’s father Manoa Thompson, told the Herald he initially contacted Hayne after he was released from prison.
In Rugby League: “I’m ready. If they throw me in, I’m ready to go. I’ve always backed myself playing footy. I’ve always backed myself going against anyone, so I’m very confident in my abilities to play,” Joseph Sua’ali’i is confident that he can handle the attention that will come with his multimillion-dollar switch to Rugby Australia - the biggest in their history.
The former Sydney Roosters star, is expected to walk straight into the Wallabies Test team to play against England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland in November.
In Football: Man City boss Pep G has admitted that "anything can happen" when asked about his future and links with the England Manager's job.
England are currently searching for a new Manager after Gareth Southgate resigned following EURO2024 in Germany.
Interim boss Lee Carsley has said that the job should go to a "world-class" Manager who has experience of winning trophies.
Pep G certainly fits the bill after enjoying incredible success during his coaching career with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man City.
In Boxing: Legendary NRL enforcers, Gorden Tallis and Willie Mason have signed on for a blockbuster fight that will see one of rugby league’s biggest rivalries, finally settled once and for all, inside the boxing ring on Friday 29 November.
And that’s a wrap peeps!
