South Shore Line Exploring Safety Improvements In Hegewisch After Young Journalist Killed By Train: Grace Bentkowski, 22, was killed crossing the South Shore Line tracks in Hegewisch last month. The station’s pedestrian crossings lack signals, sounds, automatic gates or other forms of “active warnings.”

Lake Effect Brewery’s Avondale Taproom Starts Construction After Successful Fundraiser: Work has started on building out the beer garden and finishing up the electrical and plumbing work inside after the brewery raised $115,000.

Music Box Theatre Teams Up With Rebuilding Exchange To Salvage 95-Year-Old Seats: The historic theater is undergoing a renovation for its 95th anniversary, and hired Rebuilding Exchange to help preserve over 700 seats that were first installed when the theater was built nearly 100 years ago.
