Our culture for many years has been putting ambition as one of the top qualities of a good leader. While ambitious people have been driving our society forward in many aspects, there is a dark side of human ambition. People with high level of ambition without proper moral and ethical guidelines could hurt and destroy many other people in the name of achievement and success. Especially in a network marketing motivational system that considers the number of people they recruit the most important metric for measuring success. The motivational system Bhavya and I were part of for many years only cared about promoting, celebrating and rewarding people who achieve the next level business/financial goals with no regard for whether those people got there ethically or have harmed others in the process. What we saw was people being used as a mean to an end and stepping stones for achieving business and financial goals and people are just another replaceable commodity . This was what I have experienced and observed in this network marketing motivational organization for over a decade. I saw the darkness of human ambition. Since the early tribal days of our human history, there has been groups of human beings trying to control other groups of human beings. The game of control is as old as the history of our species. In this episode, through our personal stories we took a deeper dive into how a network marketing motivational organization tried and have successfully controlled and manipulated massive amount of people for their financial gains. For two guys like Bhavya and I who have high self-image and pride, it took a lot of self reflection and meditation, and swallowing our pride, to admit that for years we have been played and controlled by a group of cult leaders who pretended to be business gurus and mentors. The silver lining of this whole experience is that, through reflecting upon this journey, we have become so much more self-aware and living in the present and allow no one but ourselves to define who we are and steer the direction of our lives. At the end of the summer 2019, in Merzouga Morocco, a group of us travelers was riding camels into Sahara desert to camp under stars for the night. I saw this group of kids riding a beat up bicycle on the desert sand dunes into the desert sunset. This was one of those moments that reminded me what happiness means and what living means to me. A month ago, Elon Musk announced that he is selling all his houses to get rid of majority of his material possessions. It was a shocking news to a lot of people, including his girl friend, who got really mad at him. However, it resonated with me deeply. I never had a desire to own a house. It never felt important to me. When I started my first business in 2006, I was taught that the journey to happiness was to have more things. Nicer car, bigger bank account, bigger businesses. I bought into it for a while. But it never brought me true happiness. When I started meditation in 2018, I heard my inner voice. I was able to go deep inwards to find answers for myself. Then it became clear to me, my journey was never meant to accumulate more worldly possessions, but to explore the beauties of this world and to get close to hearts and souls of other humans from every corner of this planet. It set me free. Freedom is never about making a lot of money and not working, freedom is about letting your spirit soar and knowing your purpose of being on this mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. We are living in an increasingly transparent world, and people demand truth and transparency more than ever in history. In our first N.M. episode, me and Paul exposed a criminal behavior of a Network Marketing educational system where the leaders of this organization have been systematically targeting and defrauding international students for decades, which violated US Immigration laws. In this episode, we dived in deeper of the inner workings of how the money flows in this educational system from its massive revenue of educational and training programs includes weekly audios CD/download subscriptions, monthly book subscriptions, monthly tech bundles, quarterly seminar tickets sales, quarterly regional conference tickets sales. It allows some of its 'leaders' to amass a fortune not from actually building their network marketing business but from selling their training programs. For me, this information explains all their predatory behaviors I have observed since 2006. Follow the money, because it will tell you the real story that was not told. Information is power, Paul and I want to get this information out to people whose lives were impacted, so people can actually make educated decisions on what they want to do with their businesses or how they want to continue their businesses in this new decade of awakening and transparency. At the end of 2018 I left my Network Marketing business at its peak doing over a million dollars a year in revenue with a team of hundreds of distributors actively engaging in business. It was very strange for a lot people who knew me as to why would I leave something I have poured my heart into for 12 years and leave behind relationships I have developed over the decade. I had to leave because I uncovered a very disturbing truth this particular organization in network marketing was trying to hide and continued to mislead thousands of its distributors with an international background. When I realized that they continued to hide this crucial information from its very people they claim to help and empower, after I confronted them with the facts I discovered, I knew I had the responsibility to speak up and put this information out. In this podcast I was having a conversation with my good friend Paul Nelson who has been my close friend for 14 years and were also in the same networking marketing organization with me until this year.
