Let’s talk about the three things women are told not to do: negotiate, network unapologetically, and say no like we mean it. Most of us have been programmed to default to yes—to the point that we feel guilty saying no, even when it’s the most obvious answer. And when we do say no? We often soften it, explain it away, and sugarcoat it so much that it barely sounds like a no at all. Kathryn Valentine—CEO of Worthmore Strategies and corporate badass helping companies retain and promote female talent—is here to flip that script. With experience advising Fortune 100s and dropping knowledge in places like HBR and Fast Company, Kathryn knows exactly how women can claim their worth, own their voice, and not feel bad about it. From salary talks to schedule shifts, from asking for more to turning down what doesn’t serve you, this episode is your reminder: your power doesn't come from being liked. It comes from knowing what matters and having the guts to go after it. Kathryn even drops her epic list of 76 things you can negotiate (yes, SEVENTY-SIX). So if you've ever softened your no or stayed silent in a meeting, this one’s for you. For the past two weeks, I have been thinking about freedom. It's the time of year in Jamaica when we pause to celebrate our emancipation and independence. It's just a fantastic reflection on how far we've come as a people breaking free from the shackles of slavery and walking boldly into the new possibilities that freedom brings. It's a national celebration, but I've been wondering what it means for our people on the individual level. How does independence show up in our day-to-day lives? You see, often, we aspire to be independent, but our behaviours don't always add up to meet that goal. Independence is essential for self-determination. It gives us the autonomy to take the actions that will lead us to our goals and potential. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wellmarkodean/message…
This week I'm thinking about freedom and what it means personally; beyond our ceremonial celebrations as a nation, let's think about what freedom means to each of us - what we are doing to pursue it, live in it, share and sustain it. Emancipation is more than a holiday or a party; it's a celebration of freedom from colonization and a time to reflect and honour those liberated from oppression. It's an opportunity to free ourselves from people, places, and things that no longer serve us. I don't have much to say this week but many questions for your reflection and mine. Think about it with me :) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wellmarkodean/message…

Many times, we tend to give up easily and forget the power we possess to change our lives for the better. However, we can transform our lives and achieve our goals with some effort. This week, I'm thinking about recognising and harnessing our unique strengths in challenging times. Asking yourself, “What’s best for me?” can be a scary and overwhelming question, but it can also be the beginning of a beautiful journey of self-discovery. Figuring this out was a super transformation experience for me, so I wanted to share some encouraging words about doing what’s best for you. “What’s best for you” is a profound question that requires introspection, self-awareness, and the willingness to embrace the journey of self-discovery. Past experiences, the present moment, and potential are vital in guiding your decisions. Remember that growth and fulfilment often involve stepping outside your comfort zone and embracing your challenges. Trust yourself, believe in your judgment, and embark on the path that resonates with your authentic self. Embrace the transformative power of pursuing what’s best for you, knowing that the journey holds immense value and rewards. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wellmarkodean/message…
