In previously unreleased jailhouse recordings, Beasley portrays himself as a devout Christian, concealing his manipulative and predatory behavior. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Beasley's deceitfulness extends beyond the victims he buried in shallow graves. Today's podcast is inspired by the recent video I saw on youtube of Deepak Chopra for Fintec Festival Singapore 2020. Deepak mentioned about the 7 pillars of personal well being. I immediately noted each one down and did a little research on them. I want to share these 7 pillars of well being. Because I feel due to the pandemic we all have realised how important it is to take care of ourselves and well being. There are so many steps available online when it comes to success, motivation, confidence, goal setting, goal achievement, time management financial freedom, better collaboration, better socialization and more. But the base of all this is our self we need to focus on our personal well being. We need to erect strong pillars concerning our wellbeing which is the core of all the outer achievements. Hence before you start working on your goals, time management or any other area of your life you must start with yourself first. Continue listening to the podcast for more.... Our feelings convey a lot of stuff to us. I think its the most powerful tool we have, to help us understand ourselves, the people and the situations around us. That's why I feel it's important to get close to our feelings and go deep and understand what our feelings want to convey to us. Hence today's podcast episode is about how not to ignore your feelings. The best thing we can do to ourself is to stay in tune with ourself our emotion our feelings. Like for example in this very moment, I am feeling a bit restless that's because there is something I have to do and I am doing something else. This restless feeling is trying to indicate me to stop my podcast recording and go do the work I first need to finish. I think our feelings can be our guiding map and if we closely pay attention we will be able to easily and faster reach our goals and the happier we will be. The more we suppress our feelings the further away we are pushing ourself from our goals and our happiness. Okay firstly before I go on with today's topic I need to practice what I am preaching to y'all, so got listen and act as my feelings are indicating me that is I need to finish the work I intended to do until then my restless feeling will not calm down. So after completing the work, I will be back in a jiffy. Continue listening to the podcast for more.... Today's topic is about my night routine. I just feel that night is the best time. Everything in the house and outside on street is quietening down. The hustle and bustle around is getting into a relax mode. Apart from things and people getting silent around me. Even my mind starts calming down. That's why I do some work before dinner, especially planning my next day or learning something new and writing into my journal. Before I sleep I make my bed. When I am making my bed it's like giving a signal to my brain that it is time to get ready to sleep. I listen to some relaxing instrumental with little sounds of nature on my phone. Especially the sounds of night forest and crickets. These sounds help my mind to relax. It also indicates my mind that it is time to sleep. Continue listening to the podcast for more.... The term self-care if searched on google or youtube shows many results of taking caring of ourselves. And the suggestion mentioned for self-care are indeed wonderful that I do feel like indulging in them. But I believe self-care is a practice that shouldn't be down only when you are exhausted, burnt out, drained out or feeling empty. You should never wait to reach that level to take care of yourself. Self-care should be a daily practice and hence I feel that there should be something super simple easy and doable that doesn't take much time and gives the result that we require & want and also something that can be done for a long time preferable forever. It is good to make something a habit and stick with it rather keep changing doing something under the name of self-care, which keeps disturbing the routine. It's great to do some self-pampering once in a while but I wanted something that doesn't require to do much and something that I do without giving any reasons to quit it. And what is that one self-care habit I am talking about it is MEDITATION!!! Continue listening to the podcast for more.... You are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequence of your choice. One of the quotes I read on Pinterest. Often we make decisions without thinking much. We don't give time to mentally scan through the options we have. We act like there is no choice, but the truth is that we always have a choice. And whatever choice you will make there will be a consequence to it. Ulmitaley the choice we keep making starts shaping our life. It is so important to make the choice after understanding the possible consequence of the action. A choice you make is also defining you. It speaks a lot about you as a person. Even the simplest act of choosing to throw something on the road instead of a waste bin talks about what kind of person you are. Treating animal with love and care depicts the compassionate and caring nature in you. Regardless of what you say like I don't care it's my life I will do as I please, you cant hide away from the consequence of your choice. I learnt this from the book called Madame Chic by Jennifer L. Scoot that we all have viewers. Viewer, are not limited to Instagram, Facebook and other social media handles. We have viewers in our daily life. When you go to work when you go shopping when you go for a walk with your pet when you go to your gym. You are not invisible people see you. And when choose to move around in your society with that kind of attitude i.e I don't care, it will ultimately reflect a lot about you. It not about making the right choice because you are going to be judged but making the right choice because it will make a huge shift in your life. Continue listening to the podcast for more.... My dog's name is Lucky and he is the heart & joy of our house. He is an Indian breed called Pandikona and he was adopted in Feb 2017 when he was 2 months old. He was so small that I could hold him in one palm. He was and is a hyperactive dog. Always full life, attention seeker, asking me to always pet him, Licking me to convey his love for me. Always sitting by my side, never leaving me alone, following me where I go. I am so blessed to have him in my life. He loves everyone in the house and always wants everyone to be in the house, quarantine time has made him happy cause very little do we go out. Whenever I am ready to go out he will be jumping on me and also making different sounds requesting me to take him along. He loves long drives, his face out of the window and the wind on his face, he totally enjoys it but we are very careful that he is not leaning out of the window for which the window is down only 1 / 4th enabling him to comfortable look outside. He seriously an attraction everyone driving around our car looks at him, some even stop the car next to our car at the signal just to look at him, speak to him and even pet him if possible. He is now 3 years old and will soon turn 4. I want to share the 3 things I have learned from him, which I feel I wouldn't have learnt if he was not there in my life. Today's topic is the power of our mindset. How our very own mindset can either make or break us. I was very inspired to write about mindset as I do understand and recognizes the power of it. So what is mindset? Mindset is a way of thinking, your thought patterns, your perception about yourself and the world around you. Mindset are your thoughts that after some time have become your firm belief. And your beliefs define your actions whether you take that action conscious or simply do things on an autopilot. It's our mindset that affects our choices. I remember a few days back I met an old neighbour after a year who told me that I have lost weight. This made me happy from within. Because I constantly have the weight loss thoughts going on in my mind. Always thinking ways to get rid of the extra fat on my body. So when I heard that compliment I was smiling from within. My mind is always making conscious choices of what goes into my mouth. I have been working on my eating habits and my workout, trying to stay active and also constantly consuming information about the people who have lost weight and are living a healthy lifestyle. Because what we constantly keep feeding our brain we start to act, behave and make our choices accordingly. Our mindset then changes. Continue listening to the podcast for more.... In today episode we are going to discuss the 5 must-have habits that will help you in becoming successful. I love studying habits that bring me success and especially the habits of successful people. For many years that I have read and listened to books and watched interviews of achievers, I have noticed that almost all have a few habits common in them that contributed to their success story. I have incorporated these habits in my life and I want to share them with you'll too. These habits are super common and you must have heard it many a time from people that they are beneficial but we never stick to doing them. So I want to reiterate these basic but powerful habits so let's get started with the first habit that is Journaling. Journaling has been a long time favourite of mine. I remember I heard the term journaling from Robin Sharma for the first time. Before that, since childhood, I loved to write in my diary. Back then I use to call it my diary. I use to write how my day was, what I wanted my future to be like. I use to write about my family and my friends. Continue listening to the podcast for more.... I wish I had known this way earlier I spent so much of my time deciding what to do at what time. My constant focus use to be how to include what I want to do and have to do in a given time bracket. And no wonder why I failed. From the past many years I have planned my schedule in time blocks in my journal. I have also used a digital calendar on deciding what time to do what. I use to always wonder why after such meticulous planning I still am not able to achieve what I have set to do for the day, some times even a few daily routines used to get missed by me. Because it was plain hard for me to keep up to the demanding schedule I had made for myself I didn't have the energy to keep up to all that I preplanned. Today topic is, always ask for help when you need it. Let me start with the quote by Barack Obama "Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to admit when you don't know something, and to learn something new." Rightly said by the former US president that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. Its a sign of a smart person who wants to learn & grow. Because usually the person who doesn't ask for help when he needs it, is egoistic and he thinks he knows it all and can do it all. This mindset is crapy. The movement you think you know it all and you can do it all without anyone's help or guidance is a sign that you are back to zero and you need to learn and re-learn things to change this mindset. I love today's topic as it is all about learning. The word learning excites me. I love learning via books, courses, videos, audios any format I love it and while learning I also like to write in my notebook the subject I am learning about. I also like to take notes on the book itself. And I have a firm belief that anything can be learned it's just that we must have the desire to learn about a subject or subjects. In fact, the desire to learn itself is beautiful, the subject can be anything. There is so much exciting stuff to learn and discover. The general thought process is to stop our learning after our education is complete, this a flat stupid idea. The kind of learning most people do is getting a good education degree so that they can achieve a good stable job and that's it they are settled for life and the learning stops there. What they fail to realise is that the movement we stop learning not only our personal growth stops & gets stagnant but we also start slowly rusting our knowledge. Today podcast is all about what stress can do to our body. Just yesterday I saw a video on Youtube of Natasha Diddee. Also know as the gutless foodie on Instagram. Natasha is gone through a very uncommon surgery and is now without a stomach. The surgery was done to remove the ulcer and tumour in her stomach. She said that ulcer and tumour were the results of the stress in her life. Her marriage was very stressful and she was doing everything to sustain her marriage. Eventually, she divorced and noticed that the stress had caused ulcer and tumour in her stomach. To understand the full story I will share the link of her videos in the show notes. In her video, she says how we just ignore the stress that we experience in our daily life and then forget about it, but the body doesn't forget, In fact, the body registers each and every stress we had or have. Even the smallest of small stress keeps piling up. So every stress that you easily allow in your life does great harm to your body slowly and gradually. Today's topic is the power of a deadline. I have personally experienced a lot of benefit from setting a deadline. So I wanted to share my experience, benefits and tips of setting a deadline. The best example is this podcast, I have never been so regular on posting my episodes but by setting a deadline I have been able to accomplish consistency and regularity. Hence I have thought this is the best topic to share my insight on for today's episode. So let's get started. When you set a deadline to accomplish a goal or a task you will not be under any delusion you will have clarity, that is on or before so and so date and time you have to be done with the goal or task. The goal or task comes into existence, it no more remains a vague idea or a just a thought in your mind. As simple as this sounds it is very very effective, by setting a time and date you achieve your goals. This week I experienced a little disturbance as the talk everywhere especially on social media was about the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, he hanged and killed himself. He did suicide. A 34-year-old actor committing suicide was disturbing for me. I am not a person who is into news and lastest Bollywood gossip but this news got my attention I couldn’t believe why was he compiled to take such an action. He was doing very well in his movies. I particularly enjoyed watching Kedarnath and M.S Dhoni. Well, the inside story is all out on the internet and I not going to discuss that here. My attention is on why people are compiled to take there own life and how no reason is a reason enough to take such a drastic and highly impractical step. I understand that people suffer and go through immense pain and stress and that the world to them seems dead and over and no way to overcome that pain. The reason can be innumerable, the most come one is depression due to extreme hurt from someone, being badly shamed or humiliated for a long period, immense pressure to do or not do something, gradually letting someone kill your confidence i.e being bullied and the list must be more. So let's sum it up saying there must be lots of pain, sadness, depression and anxiety to speak a few that makes them take this unwanted avoidable step of suicide. I am intrigued by this topic that is artificial intelligence and emotional intelligence, therefore wanted to share my thoughts and my learning from this topic. Emotional intelligence also known as (EI) is as old as human existence. But the term EI was coined by two researchers--Peter Salavoy and John Mayer--and then popularized by Daniel Goleman in his 1996 book Emotional Intelligence . They define EI as the ability to: Recognize, understand, and manage our own emotions , and also recognize, understand, and influence the emotions of others. I don't know if the emotional quotient was high back then in people or is high now in the modern age. One thing I have understood that EQ (Emotional Quotient) like IQ (Intelligence Quotient) is different in different people like the way some can have high IQ and a low EQ. Similar others can have high EQ and low IQ. Or a person can be low in both. As per the book, Emotional intelligence by Daniel Goleman having a higher EQ is more important and valuable the high IQ. So firstly I want to explain what emotional intelligence is and how it is the most important thing to focus and develop for our good and the world at large. EI is going to be the most important trait, skill, or call it what you want that huge companies, industries and people will be seeking out and will be in high demand. But apart from the financial benefit. Developing our EI will do wonders for ourself. (Continue listening to the podcast for the full episode). Ideally, my episode was to publish on last Saturday but due to various reasons, I was unable to publish the content. So after this week-long break of quarantine edition, I back with the topic that touches my heart and the one that will make a difference in your life too. Firstly thank you for being patient for my episodes. Now Let's get started with today's podcast. Lately, I was dealing a lot with anger. Most of the times I am calm and it takes a few and particular things to make me angry. But when I get angry it is not good. And I don’t say that proudly, being and getting angry is not a good thing. I understand that it is a part of our emotions, we as humans have but its defiantly not worth it to downgrade your energy and cause harm to your own body. The energy that we vibrate when we are happy or even normal it reflects on things around us similarly the moment we decide to get angry it has an impact on the things and people around us. Listen to my episode to know how to manage your anger. #Anger #AngerManagement #BeingAngry #ControllingAnger Thank you for listening to my podcast, And until my next episode you can follow me on Twitter @suchitra_dm and Instagram @TheBlissWish And for more content, you can follow me on my Youtube Channel called The Bliss Wish . This is the quarantine episode 10. Its been a long time everyone is in quarantine. I and my family have been self quarantining since the end of Feb month 2020 and now June is approaching. I have learnt a lot from this quarantine period some of which I have already shared in my previous podcast episodes under the quarantine series. This being the 10th quarantine episode I wanted to end this series but not our quarantine time until it is safe to head out. But before I end this series I wanted to share one of the most important things that I learned from my quarantine period that is that I am healed from my past relationship. The fact that I realise this, feel it and notice it. I would like to share my journey of healing. Okay, so the tips and suggestion I am going to give are related to relationship healing. But if my suggestions are relatable and help you with any other type of healing then go ahead and apply them but remember the bottom line, Time is the best healer, so be patient. #Heal #BreakUp #Emotional #Relationship #Pain #Sad #QuarantineTime Thank you for listening to my podcast, And until my next episode you can follow me on Twitter @suchitra_dm and Instagram @TheBlissWish And for more content, you can follow me on my Youtube Channel called The Bliss Wish . Today topic is slow living. I love the concept of slow living. I had come across this concept from my sister. She had spoken about slow parenting to me. Slow parenting concept, in short, is about mindful education and a slow but deliberate up-bring for children. Slow living is also similar to slow parenting. The idea of slow living is living more deliberately, more intentionally, more purposefully, more mindfully, by being present and yes of course by slowing down our pace. The concept of rushing up, doing multitasking, thinking something and doing something else, being less of a lister and a quick executer without understanding fully. We live in a generation which is a fast-paced lifestyle and being constantly on the go is what we all were doing before the quarantine. Quarantine has made us deliberately slow down, take notice of things and do things that we would otherwise have never noticed or done. #SlowLiving #SlowLifestyle #DigitalFree #Mindful #SlowDown #BePresent #QuarantineTime Thank you for listening to my podcast, And until my next episode you can follow me on Twitter @suchitra_dm and Instagram @TheBlissWish And for more content, you can follow me on my Youtube Channel called The Bliss Wish . Today topic is managing distraction during the quarantine. How to turn distraction into traction when it comes to, office work, projects, studying, learning or practising. Sometimes focus is easy when you love to do a particular thing. But there can be something that you like doing but it requires deep attention like writing, studying, reading, etc and the other things that can be done on autopilot and don't require a deep focus. For the task that requires deeper focus, you must carve out special time. Time in which you switch off from everything else and solely focus your attention on that work. Points from the episode: 1) Setting up the environment 2) Taking the help of music to stay focused 3) Afternoon Naps 4) Phone Notifications Off 5) Taking Short Breaks and Using Forest App (For Android and iOS ) to Stay Focused 6) 10 mins Strategy by Author Nir Eyal #WorkFromHome #QuarantineTime #DeepWork #Focus #WFH #QuarantineLife #FocusWork #DistractionFree Thank you for listening to my podcast, And until my next episode you can follow me on Twitter @suchitra_dm and Instagram @TheBlissWish And for more content, you can follow me on my Youtube Channel called The Bliss Wish . In the world we live in anxiety was never new to us but due to the start and spread of Covid-19, the anxiety level has shot up. Each one us is worried about things like protecting family and self from the virus, the unpredictable economy. And other stress like availability of essentials and necessities during the lockdown. Suffocation of staying indoor, sanitizing every product that comes in the house and much more. I experience stress when I am seeing or reading COVID 19 related news on youtube, twitter and whats app. The way I deal with anxiety is by following 3 steps. 1st is Questioning, 2. Today's topic is the continuation of our last episode called thriving during a pandemic (Part 1) posted on Tuesday 21st April. In my last episode, I spoke about self-care and work. This episode is about the remaining two parts. Part 3 about finance and Part 4 about family. So let's get started. Part 3 Finance. Managing your money especially during this pandemic is important. Firstly knowing all your expenditure is crucial be it monthly or quarterly, therefore, write it down or use an app to track it. I have been personally using the walnut app for tracking all my expense for many years now. 4th and final part of thriving during this pandemic is being with our family. The best part of this quarantine is spending quality and quantity time with our family. Today's topic is thriving during a pandemic by taking care of our self, our work, our finance and our family. So firstly let's start with self-care as taking caring of ourselves is the most crucial thing during this crisis because if you don't take care of ourself especially our mental health then it would be difficult for us to take care of anything or anyone in our life. I have listed around 16 Self Care ideas for this quarantine. This episode is divided into two parts. Part 1 has self-care and work and Part 2 has Finance and Family. Welcome Quarantine episode no 4 where we make the most of the quarantine time by learning and implementing something good that can then stay with us for life. Today's topic is about asking yourself the right question and what better time than this. So let's get started. Firstly let's understand why it is important to ask yourself questions. Questions give us a clear idea of why we do a certain thing. Asking questions helps us get clarity on many things in life. The better we know why we are doing something by asking more specific questions the better we have the understanding of our behaviours, our habits and ourselves. Welcome to the Quarantine Episode 3. Today's topic is on music, my favourite one. As I record this episode I have music playing in the background. Music is a major part of my everyday routine. Overtime listening to music I have come to know a few things which I will share with you'll in this episode. Even if you are not a regular listener to music yet, music is pretty much in everything around us. Music is in the sounds of the trees as they sway due to wind, music is in the sound of the birds chirping, music is in the sound of running tap water in your house, music is there in the sound of burning firewood if you stay in a cold country, music is in the sound of a ticking clock in a silent room, Music is also there in the sound of the wind blowing through a small gap in a window. Each one of us experiences these various sounds many times in the day. And there are innumerable sounds around us if we closely pay attention. When these sounds are heard together at a time then it differently sounds like music to the ears. Apart from the sounds of nature and things the sound of the various instrument also has an impact on our body and mind. Favourite Youtube Relaxation Music Channel 1. This is our second episode during the quarantine period. And I thought one of the best ways for me to utilise this time is to get better at meditation. We often complain that we don't have time for sitting in one place and to do nothing i.e closing our eyes and then focus on our breathing but now we have all the time in the world. Some people find it difficult to sit in one place and then focus on their breath and yet for some meditation is extremely simple yet they never get to the actual act of meditating. However simple or difficult you find meditation, it is now a necessary part of our life, it is as necessary as bathing is. Like the way bathing, everyday cleanses us from the outside similarly meditation cleanse from the inside especially our brain, our thoughts. Needless to say, we stay in a world where we are constantly in fight or flight mode we are always on the go hence in this hectic lifestyle of working outside or working from home or managing home is equally hectic if not more. So having a mind that doesn't lose it or the mind that has clarity with clear direction in daily life is crucial therefore practising daily meditation for just 5 mins brings in immense peace. Habits are the single most powerful way of getting success in our lives. I am recording this episode when the PM has called for the Janta Curfew today that is the 22 March 2020. Corona Virus has disrupted the entire world people have stopped their daily activities that are related to going out for office, shopping, going to parks, socializing, just basically all the normal activities related to going out and meeting people. In the past few days, the virus has spread rapidly especially in Italy after China. Our PM in India has requested people to stay home and stay safe, self-isolation, self-quarantine, social distancing, washing hands and avoiding touching your eyes, mouth and nose by our hands when in public place. The govt has suggested to best to avoid public places all the religious, personal and social activities are to be avoided for a few days.…
Today's topic is Brave, not perfect, this is the title of the book I am currently reading and I am in love with this book. And whenever I am reading or watching something awesome I want to immediately share it with everyone. So I came across this book when I was scrolling through Instagram. This book is by Reshma Saujani. It's a fabulous book, so lets dive straight into it. I am going to share a few highlights and quotes from the book with my personal take on it. The book begins with one of the statements that caught my attention it is Quote no.1 “Bravery is not a luxury reserved for the 1%” It is so true yet we treat bravery as if it is reserved only for a few privileged. For me what I have learnt is that bravery is being yourself unapologetically. Bravery is being comfortable in your own skin that is being comfortable in being who you are.…
Today's topic is silence the negative voice in your mind. I wanted to share this topic because I was doing this to myself, that is I was being internally harsh, mean and negative with myself. I, therefore, am sharing this in order to help people who have and are undergoing the consequences of their inner negative voice. Being constantly negative and critical of our work, relationships, health, etc. We unknowingly suppressing ourselves. One thing that we need to engrave deep into our hearts is that we are our own cheerleader. Today’s topic is Sleep Hypnosis. Just recently I came across this topic and I realised that I too was unknowingly following sleep hypnosis and reaping the benefits of the same, so I wanted to share the steps I personally follow. Before that let me give the meaning in a nutshell of sleep hypnosis. Sleep Hypnosis is a technique that involves guided thinking in order to lead a person into a state of relaxation. In turn, this relaxed state should make falling asleep easier. Hoping this episode benefits someone who really needs this.
