Let’s examine some of the themes that we discover in the Mass readings for the 16th Week of the Year. 1st Reading – Genesis 18:1-10a Abraham and Sarah provide hospitality to three travelers. One of the men makes a prophecy that Sarah will have a son in the following year. Psalm – 15:2-5 “He who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord.” Our love for the Lord is made known when our thoughts, words, and actions are pure. 2nd Reading – Colossians 1:24-28 Our sufferings participate in the afflictions of Christ through our connection to him.
