I believe that our education systems and how our society is structured traps us. We are taught to fit within a mold so that we are ‘employable’ and can hopefully find a job that allows us enough pay to live comfortably and gives us a few weeks off a year. Yet inflation is skyrocketing, the cost of living is outrageous and people feel disconnected from things that genuinely make them come alive. We need change. I know for many of you reading this, you feel that way too as entrepreneurship is about taking a step away from all of that. For almost a year now I have been exploring blockchain technology (crypto) and web3. There are many things that overlap with my passions and curiosities. Entrepreneurship, sovereignty, community care, innovation, philosophy, and more. Like every sector there are people in the space whose only real objective is making money with little regard for others. However there's also an emergence of concepts and ways of creating that previously could only work in small microscopic ways. On this week's podcast I explore ways in which you could possibly use these things in your own business. As well we explore public goods, community resource sharing, regenerative economics that value the environment and sustaining it, trying to solve complex philosophical problems in the open, building out systems that can help mass amounts of people achieve financial freedom through shared rewards and more. The more time I spend learning the more I can see how revolutionary it can be if we empower ourselves to learn about it. There is a massive learning curve, but I fundamentally believe it is worth it. I also believe that online entrepreneurs like you and I are so close to it already as we need to keep up with changing directions of the internet. Always feel free to hit reply if you have any questions or shoot me a message on IG (@lanadingwall) or twitter (@lanzdingz) Our world is shifting and I want to ensure that people who are community oriented have the tools and resources needed to participate in this space - otherwise it’s just going to be the same old power systems. We have an opportunity to make a shift, but it’s going to require enough of us to learn and actively participate. I’ll be using my podcast to help with that and I hope you follow along and learn how you can use this technology in your own business as well. You’re doing better than you realize. Have you ever found yourself anxiously anticipating something? Maybe it’s small like a task you need to complete or maybe it’s a large goal that requires you to push big-time out of your comfort zone. No matter the gap between where you are now and where you want to be, anxiety, fear, doubt, all exist primarily in the anticipation of something- not the act of it. Why is that? It’s mostly because when we’re in the act of doing something we’re present and in action mode - which leaves little cognitive space for fear and anxiety to show up. This means that when we’re doing hard things that can bring about big rewards for ourselves, we’re not actually thinking about how hard it is - we’re simply doing it. This perspective and reminder can help us make progress on our biggest goals and dreams because it reminds us that often the most anxiety shows up in the anticipation of doing something big - not while actually doing it. This is what we explore in more detail in this weeks podcast episode. I remind myself of this when I find myself overthinking a situation, which tends to leave me stalling even though I really want this thing to happen. I hope this perspective shift helps you as it has me. As always you’re doing better than you realize, and you have what it takes to accomplish your dreams. I believe in you and I hope to chat with you next week Lana If you enjoy these conversations, check out The Lighthouse Collective . If you’re on social media and work in the space of entrepreneurship and/or spirituality you’ve most likely heard the term self sovereign over the past few years. I wanted to dive a little deeper into what I feel it means and why it is directly connected to community care - because sometimes when I hear people use it, it just comes off as inherently selfish and not empowering at all. Self sovereignty and community care are highly interconnected. The more empowering and expansive a community is, the more sovereign you become. Why is this? It’s because they teach you to use the tools and resources within you over telling you you need them (the community) and must conform to their rules and boxes to fit in. Being sovereign is less about doing everything yourself and it's more about interacting with the world in a way that's fully you. Sometimes that means having full responsibility over yourself to help protect and ensure your freedom AND sometimes it's allowing others to do what they're great at (and love) so that you can do what you're great at - because this is also a form of protecting yourself. This protects your time and helps ensure you have the freedom to pursue what you love. This week I dive further into this topic and explore how it intersects with entrepreneurship, web3, philosophy, mindfulness and more. Check out the episode here. Many of us yearn for something different, but if we don’t explore community and sovereignty as interconnected, we might end up building more of what we already have. Our individual freedom does not need to come at the expense of our community and our community doesn’t need to come at the expense of ourselves. I believe things like entrepreneurship, web3, mindfulness and other things can help us build a more sustainable and flourishing community for all of us. I am getting a lot of people in my dms saying they are very interested in learning more about web3 - blockchain - nfts - crypto, but have no idea where to start. They are telling me they grasp that there is potential in this emerging space but truly do not understand most of it. If you fall into this category, that is totally okay and let me tell you why. You do not need to understand on a fundamental level how this technology works, you only need to know how to use it. Most of you are probably reading this email on your phone. If you listen to my podcast or follow me online, these forms of interacting with me are while using your phone. I am a big apple user - so I use an iphone. The smartphone was invented by apple and do you know what made it not only crush their competition in the cell phone industry, but also ushered in a whole new era of technology….. iOS. Do you know how iOS works? I absolutely do not. I just know that without it everything we do on our phones would not be possible. Apps are built on top of iOS - uber + IG as an example exist because of iOS. Something that you and I use every single day is built using a technology that we don’t understand but are able to use. It birthed a new era of business. Blockchain (which is what will make the future of the internet different than it is today) is the foundation that many new applications and kinds of businesses are being build upon. Much like iOS this will usher in a new era of business AND better yet - this time we actually own our data (iOS tracks and sells our data because apple owns it not us). This is just one of the many breakdown examples I give on this weeks podcast episode. If you’re interested in learning more about web3 using examples that you are already familiar with to help build you knowledge, listen here. If you are able to understand the basics, there are endless possibilities around what you could build, create or how you could integrate what you’re doing now into this. In the coming years we won’t even think about how we’re using blockchain technology, the same way we don’t think about iOS software while using our phones. The ways to use this technology though are only just beginning and it's a time to make your mark if you want to. As always feel free to hit reply if you have any questions and you’re always welcome to book in a call if you want to brainstorm ideas. Keep being awesome my friend. A few weeks ago IG announced it was beta testing integrating NFTs onto its platform and so far things are going well. Youtube, Meta (aka facebook), Amazon, Shopify, Stripe and other content hosting platforms and commerce based businesses now officially all have web3 teams who are using, building, and integrating blockchain technology. What the heck does this mean?! It means that many of the platforms, applications and tools we use in our businesses are taking web3 seriously - which means that we should too. This doesn’t mean drop everything and go deep dive (unless you want to of course), but it does mean that starting to get curious and learn more about them is important. If we look back on even just the last 5 years, a lot of social media platforms have shifted, content creation looks different, technology is more advanced and we can do cooler things and it's easier than ever to get paid online doing something you love. It’s safe to say that the same will be true 5 years from now. Web3 isn’t a destination, it's simply the evolution of the internet. We started with read only, then went to read and write (where we are now) and its moving to read, write, own. Ownership means we own our content, data etc the same way we do our email lists and websites, but not really anything else we create on the internet. This week's podcast episode dives into some of what this will look like, how you can learn more and some ideas on how you might utilize some of this technology in your own business. If you’re curious about learning more or even how to create your own NFT, social token or something else web3 related, my inbox is always open to help. Just like we talked about last week, little steps add up. Learning even a little bit today, can help you tomorrow. You’ve got this! Changing The Story with Lana Dingwall

It is very common for us to view ourselves as 3 separate people. There is our past self, our current self, and our future self. The reality though is there is only one us. This isn’t to say we stay the same, we know we are constantly changing. What I mean though, is that without changing something today, nothing will change in the future - except that time itself has passed. Sometimes by thinking our future self will somehow be more equipped, more motivated, more responsible than our current, self tricks us into forgetting who we are right now has to make the shifts needed for that to actually transpire. I will not be able to retire in the future, if I don’t start saving today. Right now inflation is at an all time high, stocks and crypto are crashing, housing prices (in Canada) are insanely high and outpacing people’s average income levels. These are stressful times - they are also times of opportunity. What small things can be done today, to help set you up tomorrow? How can delaying our desire for instant gratification, create an opportunity for us to think about the box in a way that will reward us in 5 years time? I remember being younger and thinking about my ‘adult self’ and who I would become. I still think about this future self and who I will ‘become’ even though I already am the future self of younger 23 year old Lana. My current self, is my past selves, future self (try and figure that one out LOL). I realize that today and everyday I have an opportunity to do small things that are in support of not just who I am now, but who I will inevitably become too - because we are one and the same. I dive more into this topic on this weeks podcast episode. I also cover my take on the crypto/stock crash, what my gameplan is and how I personally am looking to hedge inflation, our current economic times and how I’m working on my future, today. You’re doing better than you realize. Until next week, Lana If you enjoy these conversations, check out The Lighthouse Collective . Changing The Story with Lana Dingwall

Many of us can feel as though we’re in a race to reach ‘the finish line’ in our business and lives. We look to those around us to determine if we’re ahead or behind and this can create a sense of urgency. The reality is that we aren’t actually in a race, we will most likely never feel like we ‘crossed the finish line’ and we aren’t competing with anyone either. When this feeling is used in a healthy way to motivate us it can be motivating, however many of us use it to stress ourselves out. There are so many different ways to build out and get to where we want in life. Rushing through everything because we feel we’re behind or that someone else is going to get there before us leads us away from not only enjoying ourselves, but potentially not getting as much out of everything as we can. When we slow down we’re able to make better decisions. When we give ourselves time for sweat equity we can often do incredible things at a fraction of the cost. We are able to explore new ways of creating and going about building whatever we’re building because we are more focused on the process rather than the imaginary race and finish line. We explore this topic in more detail, including how slowing down and ‘taking the long road’ has helped me on this week's podcast episode. You are not in a race, time is not running out and the only person you’re competing with is yourself - and even though it's actually better to just team up with yourself than anything else. Doing things today that help out your future self, allows you to build on what you’ve already created and done. You are doing way better than you realize.…

Have you ever found yourself working countless hours on something only to realize that you want to throw it away? Not because you don’t love the overarching thing you created, but because you feel so burnt out by the process and the idea of doing it again makes your heart sink. Sometimes how we build something affects our ability to do it long term. One of the most important things we can do, that most people struggle with, is creating systems that align with who we are and how we thrive vs what we think we’re supposed to do. How can one know what will work without first trying different things? The reality is we can’t fully know until we try. Which is why when you’re in those first few years of business you want to avoid putting all your eggs into one basket. I have seen so many entrepreneurs burnt out, wanting to throw in the towel because they are spinning their wheels going nowhere. The reason they’re stuck is because they are in the wrong gear and need to adjust. As an example I am someone who thrives with real time conversations, problem solving and coaching. Pre recorded coaching content (aside from my podcast because it's conversational) actually drains me because it is missing the key ingredient for me - interaction. I could spend a full week live working with people and feel I have more energy than if I spent that same week recording the exact same content solo. For some people it is the exact opposite. This is why we need to take ourselves into account when we build - we are the backbone of what we’re creating after all. This week's podcast episode we dive into how we have the choice to build in meaningful ways. That also means we have a responsibility to ourselves, to figure out what systems make sense for who we are and what allows us to thrive. At the end of the day if we thrive, our businesses thrive as well. You owe it to yourself to create something that makes sense for who you are. Keep being awesome and chat with you next week! What if you could build out your content and business in a way that rewarded you AND your audience economically? With blockchain technology you can. Technology has always had a huge impact on how businesses interacted with their audiences. Email, social media, youtube etc have all shifted the relationship between us and our customers over the last 15 years. Believe it or not, there was a time when people did not understand why they would need a website, or email address and why they would interact with their customers in that way. Social tokens and NFTs could bring about a new shift in how we create and build our business. In 5 years it’s possible that they will be as common as email. NFTs can be used as coupons, tickets to VIP events, a membership pass to your community and more. Social tokens can be used to ‘cash in’ on certain things only available to holders (think mid way and how you would win tokens and cash them in for a prize), used to vote on what cities you host events in, what topics they want to learn about, or used to get 1 on 1 time with you, etc. There are new and creative ways of engaging with our audience emerging through blockchain technology that allows us to build wealth and create income AND can allow our audience to do the same (they can buy and sell your nft as an example). I dive deeper into this topic this week on the podcast. If you’ve been wanting to shake up how you currently offer some of your services or products and have an interest in learning more about web3, this could be a fun way to learn. Artists, musicians, content creators and all sorts of creators are building with web3 tools (aka blockchain) to create new markets, offers and ways of relating with their audiences. As always, there's no rush for you to learn more about this space. I want to keep dropping information here and there as I do believe it's really interesting with a lot of potential for us entrepreneurs and creators. How many times have you spent countless hours of your life stressing out about social media and having to learn something new, yet again, in order to keep up with its changing rules of engagement? Since starting my coaching business about 6 years ago I feel like I have whiplash from having to learn something, create a new strategy around it, only to have it need to change within 6 months. The reality is that running a successful business using social media requires us to be very agile. That seems acceptable if the ONLY thing we had to worry about was in fact social media. But the reality is that most render services, or offer products that have NOTHING to do with social media. That means that we end up spending more time trying to figure out how to market ourselves than we do actually doing the things that have the biggest impact. The reality is that social media platforms need content creators more than we need them. Social media is a tool, and has made running a business easier in a lot of ways, but we forget that there are other marketing strategies out there that don’t require as many pivots. I dive deeper into this topic on this week's podcast episode. We also talk about how struggling with marketing doesn’t reflect the quality of what you do - it simply reflects how good you are at explaining it. Those aren’t the same things. Social media is a tool, but many of us act as if it's the only real measure of success - that’s how good these platforms are at convincing us we need them. Just remember though that without content creators (aka anyone that posts or creates videos), well no one would really use these platforms….. You are doing better than you’re giving yourself credit for. You’ve got this and I’ll chat with you next week. Lana If you enjoy these conversations, check out The Lighthouse Collective . What if there was a way to retain the autonomy, creativity, freedom and innovation of entrepreneurship, but also have the community, structure and support of others that we sometimes miss when running a business by ourselves? This is what has me so intrigued with DAOs - decentralized, autonomous, organizations. Think of a startup business meeting a community driven project, meeting a bunch of self motivated people coming together to share resources to make money and achieve a goal. They aren’t a new concept, in fact they first popped up in the 80s but because of limitations in banking, trusting each other with money and location limits they didn’t really catch fire. Enter blockchain technology, the internet, and things like zoom and now we have an opportunity to reshape how we work with each other, get paid and create change in whatever area interests us. I sort of fell into working as a contributor with a DAO (Blu3DAO) simply because its mission aligned with mine (helping people make more money while having a greater impact) and was enjoying the community centric nature of what I was experiencing. Next thing I know I’m a governor (think board of directors), a contributor (think freelancer), my partner and I were given the power and funding to pick 35 strangers (and 3 people we met in Denver) to bring to Rio, Brazil. Once there those strangers quickly became friends and we helped many of them start their own DAOs and projects (NFTs etc) and helped secure funding for them to launch. The best part was that no one there knew that I run my own coaching and consulting business (expect my partner Kate of course), but people kept telling me how good I was at coaching and consulting. LOL the power of doing what you love, and knowing you love it no matter what environment you’re in. It’s one of the reasons I’m excited about the potential of DAOs. For many of us, we love what we do and we never want to be in a position where someone else is telling us what we need to do or how to do it, but we still miss getting to create with others. DAOs are designed to reward self motivated, innovative, action takers. There is no CEO or ‘person in charge’. There might be leaders and core team members but they are simply people who have more responsibility on whatever goal your DAO is working towards - but that doesn't mean they have more power or authority - it does mean though they can have a greater impact on the project. Being a serial entrepreneur, I know that some of the ideas and projects I want to bring to life will require me to work with others, but I also know that I don’t want to be a ‘CEO’. I want collaborators, co conspirators, not employees. DAOs are the first time I’ve felt that I could create those larger projects without having to do it alone, and without having to be the bottleneck CEO that is responsible for everything. Working with my amazing business partner for Astrid Park has taught me a lot about how nice it is to have a teammate. It’s also worth mentioning that people often work in different DAOs, or like me, have whole other businesses that they run. The space is designed for cross pollination, it encourages people to be creative and do their own thing and you choose to work together because you have shared goals, not because you ‘need a job’. If you’re interested in learning more, have questions (or concerns), as always feel free to hit reply. I also dive into this topic more on this week’s podcast episode. Check it out here. Entrepreneurship for me has always been about innovation, expression, bringing ideas to life and getting to choose what and how I spend my time. If you’re the same, DAOs might be something fun to look into, even if it’s just to learn. Keep being awesome my friend!…

The very first thing I need to make clear when talking about the metaverse, is that it is NOT owned by Facebook, nor are people that interested in what Facebook is building. Why? Because most people in the web3 space, myself included, are most interested in decentralization. Meaning no one person, government, entity or company has full control or ownership. The other reality is that we already live in the metaverse. I am writing this while in Rio, Brazil, and you will read it wherever you are. I host many workshops, Lighthouse Collective calls and sessions with clients via zoom. I take photos and videos of what's happening around me, post them on social media and you are able to see those regardless of where you are. The metaverse isn’t this official place you go to, it's simply the integration of technology into our lives, and that is already here. On this week's episode I dive more into this, as well as why it's okay to resist and not want to partake, and also some reasons why I hope you remain curious. The same way social media and email has transformed the ways people run businesses from over a few decades ago, the metaverse (think more an evolution of tech than a place) will also transform how we run our businesses in the future. Being aware of what's shifting isn’t to make us fomo into jumping on ‘the next thing’ as there will always be the next thing. It’s more about being open and curious, learning a bit here and there and when we feel ready exploring in a more serious and tangible way. As always you’re doing far better than you’re giving yourself credit for. You’ve got this and I’ll chat with you next week. Many people (myself included) pursue the illusion of power, because under the surface what we desire is freedom and we think this is the only way to get it. The only way I can be free is to have so much power, that no one can have authority (ie control) over me. Because we live in a world of haves and have nots, I need more power, money, status and things than other people to ensure I am one of the ‘haves’, someone at the top of the pecking order. *(having power and being empowered are not the same thing) I am happy to say that years ago I gave up that ideology and way of relating with the world and others - but I'd be lying if I said it still doesn't creep up on me from time to time. I believe that true freedom means freedom for all. This doesn’t mean getting to do whatever we want, whenever we want, without any regard for others and without consequences. We are so vastly interconnected in ways we can’t even comprehend, that we need to respect each other and part of that means understanding that I will have some peramatures where my freedom might bump into someone else's, and that freedom isn’t an all or nothing thing. Power though, well now when I have power I don’t need to respect anyone, I can just squash bulldoze right on over them because I have more power. You might be asking what the heck this has to do with entrepreneurship, and I would say everything. Many of us (as I did) build out our businesses and lives wanting more power and often what can happen is it leads us off course. It leads us away from the things that bring us joy and instead have us focusing on accumulating more because more = power and we confuse power with freedom. Freedom means the beautiful space to be you - to live the life you want, not the one others tell you to want - to be able to express yourself in ways that light you up vs the ones ‘you must do to grow your business’. We dive deeper into this philosophical discussion on this week's podcast episode which you can listen to here. I still want to be powerful (AND empowered), I just know that the power I seek comes with significant responsibility and I never want it to come at the expense of someone else ‘having to lose’. I believe that pondering certain kinds of questions helps us better understand ourselves, what we desire and what we’re truly looking to create. Are you potentially confusing power and freedom? Have you maybe been living in a paradigm where there needs to be losers in order for there to be winners? Or do you live in a world where we’re all able to win, we just need to work together to get there? Keep being awesome my friend and together we can, will and already are creating a different world together. Lana THIS IS EPISODE 200 of the podcast?! That is crazy to me. There is so much (and this seems common unfortunately) going on in the world right now that can make us feel overwhelmed. I’ve been in many conversations with people asking ‘is there any hope of changing these systems’ and while all I have is my own opinion, I believe decentralization (which is KEY) and blockchain technology has the power to change the world. I recently got back from ETHdenver, which is a conference dedicated to ecosystem of blockchain technologies that align with the values of ethereum (decentralized, open sourced, community oriented, giving power back to everyday people, creating systems not limited by geopolitical location, gender, race, age, work status, social economic status, even langage). I listened to people speaking about reforestation efforts that utilize blockchain technology to cut through all the bureaucracy allowing them to plant trees 100x, sometimes 1000x faster than current systems. I learnt about efforts to restistbute wealth and create basic income for people outside of government programs, and relying on grants and taxing people. I learnt about programs designed to help connect with people in places like Sierra Leone who don’t even have bank accounts because they don’t have birth certificates and other official documents needed to open them. These programs will hire, train and fund real people who live there and are a part of these communities to help them access not only (non centralized) banking for themselves and their communities, but give them job training and pay them base wages of $75USD+/hour and more to do so. I learnt about decentralized science, and how gated research and data often leads to slow and costly cures for diseases, innovation for climate change, and more. How blockchain technology can allow for us to open up information for people across the globe to work collaboratively, while still giving credit where it's due, to help us solve global and localized issues faster. These are just some of the things I learnt, and doesn’t even begin to touch on the amazing people I met. I dive more into some of these initiatives on this week's podcast episode which you can find here. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll be diving deeper and deeper into this space personally, as I believe it’s so much more than ‘crypto and money’ and genuinely feel that if the right people enter this space, it will radically change the world in equal ways, that can create wealth that doesn’t involve human exploitation, and doesn’t rely on governments or corporations. I was a part of a team (Blu3_DAO - on IG and twitter) that pitched a project that received $1 million in funding that is geared towards this vision of wealth equality, and creating a better future together. With that said, if you’re ever interested in diving into this space more yourself, my inbox is always open. The world is heavy, but I still believe in it, because people like you, my friend , exist in it. Good people, who believe in community over competition, who want to leave this world a better place than they found it. You’re doing so much for the world, simply by being here. Thank you! I understand the resistance to learning new things. Which is why I want to sprinkle in little bits of here and there, because it adds up over time. I truly feel this space of crypto/nft/web3 is going to change the world faster (but still over the course of a decade +) than anything else in modern history. We’re still so early in its creation, which is why I want more good hearted, visionary people inside of it. As entrepreneurs, it’s an easier bridge over into this new territory as we’re already used to learning new things, taking risks, and seeing the potential in things that aren’t fully formed yet. I wanted to interview someone who has immersed themselves in the crypto/nft/web3 ecosystem, that has a background in traditional product/service based businesses, to come on and share their experience and passion for the space. Meet Sierra Renee, a serial entrepreneur (runs + created product and service based businesses) who has extended her savviness into the web3 world. In this week's podcast episode we explore the possibilities of web3 (regardless of your background), some of the areas we’re the most excited about, as well as helpful tips and mindset strategies to get you started. If you have any questions about this space, please don’t hesitate to reach out. There's a lot of information out there which I know can be overwhelming. You’ve got this! We live in a world that is constantly grasping for our time, attention, energy, money and resources. This means that more than ever, we need to know how to support ourselves, regulate our emotions and practice mindfulness in our daily lives. There are a lot of shoulda, woulda, coulda moments that could have been avoided if we had slowed down, and brought awareness to what we were experiencing, thinking and feeling and how this was impacting our decisions. I don’t know about you, but I have absolutely bought things that weren’t going to help me because I got caught up in the moment. I’ve lost a whole day, my mood and my energy to doom scrolling and comparing myself to others online. Being mindful of these situations and how they affect me, allow me to support myself through them, instead of getting swept out to sea by them. This is why creating a mindfulness practice for yourself and bringing it into how we operate our business can not only have a positive impact on our work, but our lives as well. We dive into this more this week on the podcast if you’re interested. Mindfulness can look differently for different people, so taking your time to explore what works for you, can help you create a system that has real impact for you. Changing The Story with Lana Dingwall

I know there are so many ‘secret’ weapons out there when it comes to business, but here me out! This is one that I believe also deeply serves us in all aspects of our lives - It is the ability to remain open. We live in a world where it is extremely easy for us to close ourselves off - to getting help, to believing in ourselves, to taking risks, to learning, to believing that things can change, to hearing competing points of view, to respecting someone even when we don’t agree with them, to name a few. A key in business is remembering that remaining open to things gives us an advantage because most people don’t. We need to remain open to learning new things, trying new things, believing in something that has yet to manifest itself, believing in ourselves even if we don’t know what we're doing yet. This week on the podcast I dive deeper into this topic of remaining open and how it has helped me get to this point where I am now… happy, fulfilled, financially successful, operating multiple businesses, doing things I love, having time to actually enjoy my life and still have space to want to learn and do more. I talk about what remaining open looks like and means for me, and how you can use what speaks to you, to support you in building whatever it is you’re looking to build too. You’re capable of creating whatever you want, you just need to remain open to it long enough for it to get to you. You’re doing better than you realize! I know how much it can suck having to learn a bunch of new things, especially technology, in a world where it feels that just as we’ve grasped one thing, something new comes along. Please know, that you can ALWAYS opt to not adopt new technology, and that is totally okay. I also know that sometimes it's easier for us to grasp and learn, than we give ourselves credit for. Maybe you have heard about NFTs and web3 and maybe you haven’t. Either is fine, it’s all so new, think the first minute, of the first period, of the game. I have been dabbling in this space since last summer and what I can tell you is that I personally am very excited about it’s potential. I will go into more detail on this week’s podcast episode, and will be continuing to talk about it in future, so if you want to learn more about it, follow along. What I will say is that what I've read about the space via media outlets VS what I have experienced in the space is very different. NFTs, web3, crypto is a place that is very exciting for creators like us and no it isn’t like collecting beanie babies, and no it isn’t full of elitist people (although they do exist because they exist everywhere). What I’ve experienced is a really cool way to connect and create communities that are a lot more elevated than how we experience them in traditional membership spaces (facebook groups, paid memberships etc). If you’re a creator of any kind, I suggest doing a little bit of research (even if it's JUST listening to this episode), as web3 is a place that will give power back to creators (away from SM giants like FB, IG, etc), and allow you to create community and make money in a way that feels good in new and interesting ways. Remember it's only the first minute in the land of NFTs, so you’re far from too late. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. As mentioned I’ll be sure to talk about it more on the podcast in future ( don’t worry it won’t be the only thing I talk about). As well, inside The Lighthouse Collective, I’ll be bringing in guests and teaching everyone more about this new space for creators and entrepreneurs. Keep being awesome my friends! We are never just one thing in life, and the same is true in the space of entrepreneurship. We’ve come to understand being non-binary in relation to gender. I feel it can help us better support ourselves and flourish in ways that are far beyond gender identity. When we view ourselves, our ideas, our lives, our hopes and dreams and these multidimensional, beautiful complex works of art, we realize we aren’t meant to fit into tiny neat little boxes. We understand that language, information, and guidance isn't meant to put us into ridgid categories that then tell us how to be and what success looks like. Instead it helps us realize the nuance of carving out our own path based on our attributes. That ultimately we are the captain of our ships and no one can truly tell us where we need to go. We explore this deeper in this week's podcast. I also touch on what can happen when people misunderstand what we mean when we say something - since very few things are universally agreed upon. As I had someone express how something I say often kept rubbing them the wrong way. Entrepreneurship and living a life well lived, it’s about figuring out what makes sense for you and going out and doing just that. I hope this week's podcast episode makes you feel a bit more confident in doing something that intuitively is for you - even if it's the opposite of what I myself have done. First off I hope you had a lovely holiday season and were able to get whatever it is that you look for from that time of the year. I wanted to start off the new year by tackling the concept of productivity. NOT because I think we need to focus on being ultra productive, but because focusing on the right kind of productivity can actually liberate us, fulfill us AND create more ease in accomplishing our big goals. How do we do this you ask? By refraining how we view productivity, tuning into our own intuition more and giving ourselves permission to do more of what feels good and ditching the rest. We need to detach from this idea that productivity is directly connected to economic output. We aren’t machines, so we can’t evaluate the value of something solely based on what $ number it produces over everything else in our lives. We are all also very unique. Meaning that what ignites a flame in me, might put out your flame. We need to tap into what excites us, what makes us feel good, what things we feel energize us and feel purposeful. These aren’t universal things either, each of us have our own special zones and we need to know what those zones are. We dive more into this topic on this week's podcast episode, if you want to learn more. The goals we set need to align with these things and we need to align how we work with these things as well. When we do, we are able to do more than even we could imagine, while exerting a lot less energy. Remember you are doing way better than you’re giving yourself credit for AND you deserve to do work that really lights you up. One of the main things drilled into us throughout our lives is that we need to ‘obtain’ safety + security, through a series of events. A good stable paying job with benefits, saving for retirement, marriage, a house, kids, and other forms of social and material status. If you ‘achieve’ these you’ve done something right… but have you? Safety and security truly cannot come from something outside of us (a job, a relationship, money), because by its very nature it's meant to actually prioritize something that isn’t just you. Learning how to ride the various waves of life, the good, the bad, the inbetween with curiosity, openness and a knowing you’ll be alright no matter what - that is true safety and security. As we close out 2021 and move into 2022, I wanted this year's last podcast episode to be something that helps us all build a tool for a better future, and that tool is ourselves. Sometimes we give up the very things that could liberate us in the most beautiful of ways, because we’re afraid to give up some sense of safety + security (S+S). We always need to ask ourselves if what we’re giving up is worth what we’re getting in return. I don’t know if doing work that feels draining, daunting and unfulfilling for most of my life is worth any amount of S+S, but that's just me and you don’t need to agree. On this weeks (and the final of 2021) podcast episode we discuss… How the fear of shame traps us + what do to liberate ourselves from it That meeting ourselves in our lowest and darkest moments is how we cultivate real safety and security (and what that looks like) That risk isn’t just about the risk of doing something, it’s also about the risk of doing nothing at all A reminder that you are not your job title, the amount of money in your account, your marital status or anything else you feel ‘defines you’ and keeps your safe That progress is really what we want to focus on with our goals and dreams and that you’re probably doing a better job than you’re giving yourself credit for. I hope you have a lovely holiday season. I am signing off for a few weeks and will be back in the new year. You’ve got this my friend! Want to know one of the main reasons we don’t accomplish the things we desire? It isn’t because we don’t work hard enough, or have what it takes….. It’s because we feel that we are our mistakes, our shortcomings, what we lack, and because of that have a hard time tapping into our inherent goodness. Believe it or not, we are SO MUCH MORE than what we feel holds us back. It doesn't matter how much ‘proof’(aka the bad stuff you constantly run through your head) you have, you are inherently good, capable, deserving and have what it takes to get to where you desire. As we move into the end of this year and the beginning of a new one, one thing that can help us get to where we want to be is to believe in the goodness that we are, and give less airtime to the bad. Look, we have all made mistakes. Remember that time I spent over 20k on something that was essentially useless even though I truly thought it was going to take me to the next level. It didn’t, but it did teach me some really important lessons. The biggest one being that I am more than that decision. That one choice I made, even though it cost me a lot of money, doesn’t mean I have lost my ability to make future decisions like that for myself. If I felt I was that choice, then it would have been so crippling and devastating I wouldn’t be here writing this email. I wouldn’t have gone on to buy, guy and restore a home with my brothers. I wouldn’t have started Astrid Park (an off grid camper motel). I took it seriously and I learnt from it, but I didn’t let that one thing define me. It became a massive bump on my continuing journey. If you are finding that you’re being held back because of your fear of failure, imposter syndrome, or anything else that doesn't believe in your ability to succeed, check out this week's podcast episode. You are doing far better than you’re giving yourself credit for. You have what it takes to create whatever it is that you want. I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself too. You’ve got this, Lana PS - I am hosting a live sound healing, manifestation, experience/workshop/event on Dec 8th, called The art of creating what we desire - closing 2021, opening to 2022 . Hey! How do you feel about the concept of being self made? We often think of it in terms of money and access to wealth and early mentorship, but the narrative around it can be harmful. In reality no one is self made, not even the people we think are, because we’re all products of those around us. We need mentors, community, people who help us problem solve or do things we’re unable to do. Collaboration is a key ingredient in success. So my question to you is, do you have enough collaborators, support, mentors and community, or are you trying to do too many things on your own? As we move out of 2021 and into 2022, what kinds of support might help you make more progress on your goals? How might your load be lightened with others helping you carry it? Are you holding yourself back in some ways because you’re trying to ‘figure it out’ all on your own? We dive deeper into this topic on this weeks podcast episode, which you can listen to here. When I reflect back on when my coaching dreams were just these little flashes, I realize now how much faster I could have brought them to life if I had gotten support. It wasn’t until I genuinely sought out help, got mentors, built community and surrounded myself with people who could help me bring my dreams into reality, did I actually start seeing real progress. When we realize no one is self made and instead a by product of all the support they’ve received over the years, it makes it easier for us to stop putting so much pressure on ourselves to figure it all out. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where your fear of failure has actually prevented you from doing something? If there is one thing I’ve learnt over the years, it’s that our fear of failure harms our ability to live the life we desire more than anything else. Fear causes us to feel shame, and shame ultimately traps us. The thing is though, failure doesn’t really exist, not in the ways we think it does at least. If anything it's simply a moment or state of being that we move through. It isn’t a fixed state of reality, even though we act as if it is. We have all failed many times, at many different things, we just don’t really carry the weight of them because…. well we’ve moved on. So why then, do we put so much pressure on ourselves ‘to get it right’, to ‘succeed’, to ‘avoid failure’? It’s a mind trap that we set for ourselves over and over again. This week on the podcast, I dive into a big ‘failure’ of mine from when I was younger, how it changed the trajectory of my life and more on how the idea of failure is a trap we set for ourselves. You can listen here. Is there anything you’re wanting to do, but the fear of failure (or lack of perfecting it) keeps you stuck? Hit reply and I’d love to chat more about it. You’re doing better than you think. Chat soon, Lana If you enjoy these conversations, check out The Lighthouse Collective . 1 #188: The difference between membership and genuine belonging 34:18

It is human nature to want to belong, but when does our desire to fit in come at an expense that might be too high for us to pay? Often fitting in is a lot more about membership - checking off certain criteria that creates exclusivity over genuine belonging. However we want to take time to understand the difference between the two, because genuinely belonging is what we desire, and membership doesn’t give us that. Yet we often think that membership = belonging and therefore we’re willing to give up parts of ourselves in order to fit in. Lately we’ve been talking a lot about goals, values, creating lives for ourselves that are actually what we desire and we can’t do those things unless we address what can sometimes get in the way. Membership is the notion that in order to fit into a certain group dynamic, place or organization, you need to follow certain rules. If you have a family dynamic that loves drama, you’re expected to partake in the cycle of drama, otherwise ‘you don’t fit in’. Maybe you need to be an academic, or have a certain kind of career, or be married with kids, to fit into another group. You might need to have certain political views, or socially conscious views in order to ‘belong’. The idea is that all of these require you to fit into some kind of box, in order to maintain your ‘membership’. What happens though if you don’t fit? That can often lead us to feeling as though we don’t belong, but that isn’t the case at all. We all belong, and we need to restructure how we view belonging vs membership in order to make choices and decisions for ourselves that are in alignment with what we desire. Not what others require from us. We dive more into this topic in this week's podcast episode if this topic resonates. You can listen here. Remember that you no matter what, you do belong and if you’re looking for a community to feel safe in, check out The Lighthouse Collective . We’re currently open for enrollment and while it is a membership community, everyone is welcome and belongs. Keep being awesome my friend and I’ll chat with you next week! If I were to ask you what a good life meant to you, how would you answer that question? And after answering it, would you be able to say yes, you are in fact living that life? If you’re anything like me, these last fews years have really left me contemplating what it means to ‘live a good life’. I have come to realize that certain ways I’d answer that question aren’t really me, but the conditioned response I’ve been taught to believe were things I wanted for my life. That, that was someone else's response to a good life, but not mine. There is also this space of needing to acknowledge the things that get in the way of us living our best lives. The desire to belong, the need for financial security and a sense of safety, responsibilities we feel we are tethered to, to name a few. This week we dive into how to discover what our version of a good life is, explore the things potentially that feel like hurdles in our way and ultimately how to cultivate that life in a way that feels sustainable and possible for us. Because if we aren’t building out a business that supports a good life for ourselves, then what are we doing and who are we building this business for? For me I know I am living many aspects of what a good life means to me, that there is still some distance left to go AND that there are some pieces I have yet to discover. How about you?
