Some people rent a storage facility to hold the items they perceive as valuable. Ironically, at some point, the price they pay to rent the storage facility becomes more than the value of what’s actually being stored. The same can be true for our minds. At one point, we stored thoughts and beliefs such as guilt, anger, bitterness, regret, frustration, angst, procrastination etc. that may have had a purpose and value at the time, but the mental and emotional price we pay to keep those thoughts and beliefs have far outweighed the value they once had. Last night I felt very honored to be one of the invited speakers at an Interfaith Iftar Dinner. The theme (and motto of the organization) was “LOVE FOR ALL AND HATRED FOR NONE.” It was a celebration of all religions and cultures. In a world where so many people are quick to reject or “tolerate” those that are different, it was an amazing experience to celebrate, learn from and honor everyone equally, despite our so called differences.
