In this episode, we delve into the concept of being "qualified" in the workplace, examining who gets labeled as such, who doesn't, and the underlying reasons. We explore "competency checking"—the practice of scrutinizing individuals' abilities—and how it disproportionately affects underrepresented groups, often going unnoticed or unchallenged. Our discussion aims to redefine qualifications in a fair, equitable, and actionable manner. Our guest, Shari Dunn , is an accomplished journalist, former attorney, news anchor, CEO, university professor, and sought-after speaker. She has been recognized as Executive of the Year and a Woman of Influence, with her work appearing in Fortune Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Ad Age, and more. Her new book, Qualified: How Competency Checking and Race Collide at Work , unpacks what it truly means to be deserving and capable—and why systemic barriers, not personal deficits, are often the real problem. Her insights challenge the narratives that hold so many of us back and offer practical solutions for building a more equitable future. Together, we can build workplaces and communities that don’t just reflect the world we live in, but the one we want to create. A world where being qualified is about recognizing the talent and potential that’s been overlooked for far too long. It’s not just about getting a seat at the table—it’s about building an entirely new table, one designed with space for all of us. A potent conversation with Venessa Rodriguez - a functional nutritionist, intuitive nourishment guide, an Akashic record reader and host of the Feed Your Wild Podcast. She combines the science + spirituality of food and nutrition alongside intuitive guidance with Akashic Records to 'put the soul back into medicine' - and to get to the root causes of people's challenges with their health, body, and soul path by reconnecting them to nature and their own medicine through food, spirit, and love. In this conversation we cover: - Her upbringing, her Puerto Rican ancestry and traditions + the passing of her mother as a catalyst of change and a deepening into the world of nutrition and healing. - The Akashic Records: the 'cosmic database' that they are, what they can teach us, and how she works with them to help people in their healing processes. - Strengthening your spiritual gifts through regularly committing to access that space - The non-linear aspect of 'time' and how our minds may think we need to 'heal' at one pace, whereas from a soul perspective the timeline is a lot more expansive and integrative. - Past lives and ancestral beliefs/patterns/messages that we can have access to for our healing. - Integrating 'soul work' as a career, pricing your work and finding balance. - The importance of groundedness in 're-wilding' to appreciation of this human life and this precious planet we're on. - The danger of 'diet dogma' and the real essence of 'intuitive eating' as a healing modality for our bodies. And lots more! I am here chatting to Zoë Lind Van't Hof, a radiant golden being and entrepreneurial spirit doing incredible work in the world. She is a plant-lover through and through. She grew up plant-based, developed her own intuitive herbalism, foraged, grew organic food and was surrounded by botanicals through her massage therapist/naturopath mother. This passion led her to organically share her wisdom through purposeful products and offerings. She is the founder of 'Wunder Workshop' - a brand which celebrates plants, soil health, grower to consumer transparency and products with purpose. It's origin came in discovering a small-scale, family owned turmeric farm in Sri Lanka and feeling called to share the medicinal properties of this powerful root, especially when grown in a sustainable way by people who care. She carries this same essence and intention of care into her second initiative, 'Essentials by Zoë LVH'; which, born from her late mother's journey with breast cancer, offers a botanical-infused breast care oil that reminds us to lovingly massage and get to know our breasts more intimately. In Essentials, she also offers a Grief Balm; for softening the pain, open your heart and calming your anxiety. We speak a lot about grief, the ongoing depths of her journey with loss, and how it has also allowed her to experience more joy and appreciation for her life. We also touch on new ways of business, growth not being linear, the importance of deep passion and intention behind all that you do, how to create daily balance and nourishment of the many areas of one's life, and surrendering to receiving help. In this conversation i'm communing with Brittany Jane - a Somatic Ecologist, Dancer and Accredited 'Wayapa' Practitioner, whose work aims to merge the embodiment and ecology. Brittany has over 15 years of experience in dance and embodiment complemented by 7 years as a sustainability educator where she delivered bachelor and post-graduate tertiary courses for hundreds of students in over 8 countries. She holds a Master of Environment in Somatic Ecology where her thesis explored the use of somatic dance in connecting and communicating with the natural world. She is currently completing her Doctorate. Her research aimed to address the root cause of today’s overwhelming ecological challenges, that being human’s disconnection and disembodiment from nature. She co-founded an organisation called 'Wildsong', which offers deep nature connection programs for children and adults that serve as a catalyst for connecting people to their wild self and the ecological communities they belong to. She also offers women's only re-wilding immersions named 'Sovereignty'. We explore: - The much needed fusion of the academic and somatic worlds for impact and recognition - The power of moving from the mind to the body, and 'bringing the body on board' so we can live whole lives rich in deeply felt experiences - De-coding and exploring our own ancestral lineages as a way of empowering ourselves and lessening the need to grasp at or appropriate Indigenous cultures that are not our own as a result of lack, disconnection or trauma - Key practices for micro-dosing somatic nature connection in your life and moving emotions through your body - Play as a business ally + so much more! In this conversation i'm speaking to Laura Wighton, a healer, author and mother, all about her experience of conception, pregnancy and freebirthing her baby girl into the world. As she says: "Making your own decisions based on your own innate discernment around how you wish to birth is an act of sovereignty and autonomy that is a fundamental human right. Whether your birth plan is to birth in a hospital or it lies within the more radical spectrum of birth neither are wrong as long as it's your decision. There truly is no greater choice than the choices YOU make, so make them with strength and confidence and out of love not fear." We cover: - Solidifying the birth experience that you actually want - Deep choice and honour of your needs alongside rationality and a lot of research into your options - Holistic self-care in pregnancy/birth - Shedding light on the destructive ways societal programs limit us as women when entering into these initiations - Sharing a new narrative of how mothers can be more self-sufficient, trusting and empowered within their own deep knowing and instincts in the pregnancy and birth experience - Showing mothers the sacred responsibility motherhood is instead of feeling it as a sense of 'giving up' aspects of self or ambitions - How important birthing babies in an empowered natural way is for the evolution of humanity and in honouring the souls that are choosing to come to Earth right now - Her book 'Initiation' - written in the midst of her pregnancy and published as she was early postpartum Connect to her here: https://www.instagram.com/simplylaura_/ Check out/buy 'Initiation' here: https://www.instagram.com/theinitiationbook/ https://www.balboapress.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/822845-initiation…

"Discovering your human design is discovering your unique energetic fingerprint - the zone of genius you came onto this world to occupy. It’s about un-domesticating yourself from the culture. It’s about telling yourself a new story. It’s about putting your unique genius to use. It’s about learning to become less like everyone else and learning to welcome yourself into your own becoming." - https://www.wild-home.com/ Annabelle is a multidisciplinary creative who’s eye for beauty and desire for meaning has taken her around the globe and down many paths of ancient wisdoms - and to human design in 2018. She has spent two years learning the science of differentiation through her own lived experience. In exploring our Human design 'types' we come to understand: - our source of authority - our 'strategy' for life - when to work and when to rest - how to make decisions - our zone of genius - our innate gifts/strengths - areas where we hold energy from others - qualities we can tap into + SO much more. Annabelle does a reading for me in the conversation - so you're welcome to skip that part and simply book in with her, if you're inspired to! https://www.wild-home.com/…

Speaking to Mason Taylor, the founder of tonic herbalism brand/health platform Superfeast this week on the podcast! We dive into: - Some of the mental dangers of wellness ideologies and defining ourselves as certain things - including the ways we adopt superiority, rigidity or a mentality of being against the ‘other’ - especially when we promote said ‘diets’ or ‘modalities’ as a sort of teacher or expert - The powerful potential of ripping the bandaid off of health terminology, dogma, ideologies and addictions to these ways of being - Trusting our inherent instinctual knowingness when it’s time to expand our lens of what ‘wellness’ is - The importance of examining and engaging with the ‘opposite’ - Discovering our authentic health pillars and building a temple that is okay with perpetual contradictions and changing gears when needed - The many archetypes that come into play within our relationship to health, wellness and longevity; the thinker, the lover, the ancestor and the celebrator - The Daoist treasures of Jing, Qi and Shen and how they percolate through our bodies and how we can cultivate them for longevity - Moving away from the 'diagnosis to cure' model of taking tonic herbs and how they serve more general energetic systems and organs rather than specific issues - and how Mason navigates these questions as the primary face of Superfeast - His new blend Shen and the calm, steady, heart-centred energy it can bring forth for us - How to really cultivate Jing, Qi and Shen energy now to sustain us into elder hood so we can age with abundant treasures, good vibes and wisdom instead of burn out, bitterness or depletion Connect with Superfeast here: https://www.superfeast.com.au/?aff=5 https://www.instagram.com/superfeast/ https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/superfeast-podcast/id1437097644?mt=2 & follow Mason too! https://www.instagram.com/masonjtaylor/…
In this conversation I chat to a dear friend Tristan Bray. He's the founder of a powerfully beneficial modality called Attunement Therapy; whereby clients are simply safely held by the practitioner. Yes it is simple, yet as we explore, miraculous healing through touch can actually be this simple, quick and effective. Attunement Therapy's mission is to de-radicalize human touch, and to help create a new culture where non-sexual intimacy is normalized as a ‘common sense’ pathway to healing. If we take a brief glance at the worsening state of loneliness, depression, drug use and suicide all around us, we can see that physical human connection is the key to repairing and enriching people’s way of life. We truly are wired for connection. We become unbalanced on all levels if we don't receive this. Through our conversation we touch on: - What safe touch can do to people in terms of healing past trauma, balancing emotions, becoming more sensitive and helping our immunity - The current global climate in regards to distancing and isolation and how detrimental this truly is to us as a species - How seeking non-stop pleasure actually makes us more unable to feel happy - The power of creativity, hobbies, Wu Wei, nature time and helping our wider community - The medicinal quality of plants in moving through aspects of oneself ...and a whole lot more! The 5-part extensive Plant Medicine interview with Kuauhtli we spoke of can be found on Tristan's Soundcloud channel here (highly recommend): https://soundcloud.com/user-890508293 Connect to Tristan and his work here: http://attunementtherapy.com/ https://www.instagram.com/attunement_therapy/ https://www.facebook.com/attunementtherapy/ https://www.instagram.com/anopportunitytoheal/ https://anopportunitytoheal.com/…
In this conversation i'm speaking again to Hannah Ruth Dyson, founder of Soul Seed Gathering; a not-for-profit research, media, events and advocacy organisation. Soul Seed's mission is to bring the deep feminine to historical significance and cultural relevance. They do this by presenting archeological and historical records from a feminine viewpoint, alongside sharing voices, stories and perspectives of land-based, cultural, earth and community protectors worldwide. As we explore through our conversation, there is far, far more to our story as women. More power, more potential, more ritual, more intuition to be felt. We speak about: -Hannah's past pregnancy experience of not listening to her intuition in birth and how that led her to a traumatic process - Her current pregnancy journey and the medicine it has led her to - The parallel with the distortion of birth and of plant medicines - Her amazing project Soul Seed and it's new 'house' library of feminine research, historical stories and Indigenous wisdom + more.
