How do we navigate injustice and suffering, our own and that of others, and what choices can we make to transform suffering into victory? Recently, I witnessed a discussion on the meaning we give to the suffering of our ancestors. If we call them martyrs, would it suddenly make the atrocities perpetrated against them meaningful? Would giving meaning to suffering somehow take away from the meaninglessness of evil, would it somehow make evil a part of life? Here, I share some of my own experiences and thoughts on personal responsibility, empowerment and turning even the greatest personal pain into transformative victory.
