The day that I asked Jesus Christ into my life, I started growing. I learned early that it was important to have a strong foundation. There is an oak tree in our front yard. They guess that it is 280 to 300 years old. It is massive and able to support great weight because of its extensive root system. This system covers a large part of our front yard and feeds this mighty oak, helping it to grow. We grow like this. Our root system is our foundation. It is where the nourishment comes from that causes us to grow. It is what holds us up and helps get us through the storms of life. Our problem: sometimes we get away from what was feeding us. When we started - we were those strong, I will never quit, change the world Christians. We drift, don’t eat right, go through a drought, and start asking why I don’t feel it anymore. Where do we turn? “Let me get one of those self-help courses.” “I need to hear something that motivates me.” The issue is really my attitude. I have to go back to His Word, find the attitudes that He said should prevail in my life, and cultivate those. The external will not fix me. I have to have a passion about the attitudes found in His Word. My life can change and will change but from the inside out. “Healing the Broken” is not a matter of a Band-Aid. It is going to the heart of the matter and finding what really changes me.

Some feel that the Christian life is boring! But that is because they have never truly experienced it. Living for God can be an awesome experience. Bob Harrington, the “Chaplain of Bourbon Street”, was famous for saying, “It’s fun being saved.” I believe that you can have a great life. I believe that your life can be blessed. However, I also believe that life is a growing process. I believe that there are obstacles to get over and by. There are some great examples in the scriptures of how individuals got over, when around, and defeated these obstacles. These obstacles keep us from living an exciting Christian life. To many of us just get used to being mediocre and live with believing, “I shall not be moved.” Be with us starting July the 6th and 7th and find out how you can say, “It’s fun being saved.”…
